Daily Angel Card, from the Magical Mermaids and Dolphins Oracle Card Deck, by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. ~ Set Your Sights Higher
Set Your Sights Higher: “Increase your standards, and expect more for yourself. Don’t settle!”
“This card indicates that you have been trying to rationalize that some situation is OK… when it is not. You have settled for less than you desire, and for much less than you deserve. You do not need to compromise! Heaven will help you heal, or will replace troubling situations in your life. All you need to do is ask for Heaven’s help, and then adhere to the guidance that results.
Take time today to visualize and dream about your true heart’s desires. Do not worry about being disappointed-you deserve a great life, and you have the power and the Heavenly help to accomplish it! Fear and worries slow down your manifestation, so keep releasing all cares and doubts to Heaven.
You may feel intimidated by moving up to a higher plateau in your journey; however, you have Heaven’s reassurance that you are ready. Reach for the stars, know that you are qualified and deserving of these gifts, and open your arms to receive them!”*
It’s so easy for us to fear that if we ask too much, it may all be taken away. I have a girlfriend who tells me she’s afraid to talk about the good things in her life as she may “jinx” them, and thus, they will all be snatched away. Why do we feel like this? Probably because there are unexplained crisises that do happen to people, and when we see them on the media, or hear a story from a friend, it’s often presented with “things were going so well, and then ________ happened.” As if, just because things were going well, they had to be punished. Not so. Yes, unfortunately there are unforseen events that contain seemingly negative circumstances; people have accidents or illnesses, people lose family members and finances crumble. But now for the truth. We are Divinely guided, if we choose to see that guidance. We are supported. We are unlikely to live perfect lives, free of any “casualties” as there are important, and sometimes painful lessons that we are here to learn. We may also have Karma coming back at us, the biggest teacher of all. Sometimes these lessons start out with a whisper, then a nudge, and followed by a little shove in the right direction before everything goes “pear shaped” as my British friends like to say. Sometimes it just comes out of left field. Agreed. But living in fear robs us of our present time. It steals the life away from us as we are living it; and it’s so insidious that we may not even see it happening, as we are so preoccupied with our endless worry. Now I get to say one of my favourite quotes of all time… “Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want.” Yes, thoughts are things. Now, I can hear you thinking right now, ya, I was totally positive that time and nothing worked out the way I wanted it to. But there is a big difference between just being positive with an underlying fear of “if I’m not positive it will all go wrong” or “here I am being positive but it probably won’t amount to anything, things never work out the way I want them to.” Getting it yet?
