Daily Angel Oracle Card, from the Trust Your Vibes Oracle Card deck, by Sonia Choquette: Remember To Breathe
Remember To Breathe: “My spiritual teacher once said, “There are no real emergencies, only opportunities and invitations to grow your soul.” Some situations feel more intense and urgent than others, but all will be more manageable if you remember to breathe properly. Breathing is the gateway to the sixth sense and receiving higher vibrations. When you hold your breath, you deprive yourself of Spirit and enter into a debilitation fear-based state of “fight or flight,” losing all access to 27 higher states of awareness. By remembering to breathe, slowly and deeply, in through the nose and out through the mouth, you remain connected to Divine guidance and higher protection when you feel in danger or threatened. You have been asking to grow on a soul level, and for this reason life may feel more challenging than usual. Take it as a sign of your soul’s growth; and stay cool, calm and connected to your Higher Power through your breath. You do not have to know what you are doing right now, or even have a plan of action. Just continue breathing and remain open in your heart and mind to higher guidance. Take a deep breath right now. Inhale… and exhale. See what I mean?”*

Breathing is the cornerstone to relaxation, meditation and yogic practice. It is absolutely mandatory to learn how to focus on and control your breath in order to still your mind, which is the bridge to higher consciousness. When we still our minds we are able to achieve a clear connection to the Universe, our angels and guides, the Ascended Masters, the Archangels and our higher selves. As mentioned above, when we slow down our breathing and breathe deeply, it gives our bodies a sense of calm that is simply physiologically impossible when we are breathing rapidly and/or shallowly.
Controlled breathing is a skill, it is something that needs to be mindfully practiced daily, if not several times a day and unfortunately, there is no substitute for taking some time to connect with your breath. There are many classes, meditations and even Youtube videos which will help you to connect with your breath, but simply taking 5-10 minutes, starting once a day and working up from there is a great place to start!
Take a few minutes of uninterrupted time and make yourself comfortable, either sitting or lying down (although sitting may be great to start so you don’t fall asleep as you are working on this skill). Close your eyes, place your feet on the ground, shoulder width apart and your hands on your thighs, palms facing up. Make sure that your back remains straight and you are not slumping, as this will affect your lung capacity. Focus on your breath as you breathe slowly in through your nose and fill your lungs and belly fully; this should take a minimum of 6 seconds. Hold the breath for a couple of seconds and slowly exhale through your mouth. Repeat this pattern, focusing your mind on your breath. When your mind wanders, don’t get discouraged or frustrated, instead just observe it and bring it back to your breath, over and over and over again. Remember, this is a skill and you will get better with practice, just like anything else we have to master.
Commit to taking 5-10 min, once or twice a day for a minimum of 30 days and see how it changes your life! This will change so many aspects of your body, mind and spirit. Decreasing your stress levels; increasing your patience and focus; aiding with digestion and metabolism, the list is really endless. It would be a great idea to start a breathing journal and record the changes that you notice in yourself during the 30 days, you will be astonished! Combine this with drinking 8 cups of pure water a day and you will be a brand new YOU!
