Daily Angel Oracle Card, from the Halloween Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco: Joy
Joy: Rejoicing in the present.”
I stand here,
I am where I am,
Fully alive and present
Stress is a sham.
“Besides the “Hooooo” of a not so scary trick or treating ghost on Halloween evening, one of the most common sounds you will hear is laughter. There is so much joy at Halloween and it can be one of the most fun nights of the year if we allow that into our lives.
We lead busy lives: whether we are studying, run a household, have a demanding job or all of them at once, it seems there is little time for us to stop, be present and enjoy exactly where we are at this time. It has been said that the first step of real change is stopping and acknowledging that we actually need this change. Whilst sometimes we might feel that there is little to feel happy about and much to change, we can always feel grateful for something right now and there is power in that position.
It is time to find the joy in this moment and to find that joy more often. Should this card come up in your divination, it heralds the arrival of more happiness and profound joy into your life. It is a good omen!
Actively seek pleasure and build more of the things that give you personal joy and laughter in your life. After all, we build in appointments for the dentist, why not for our own pleasure?”*

Ok, so I have to say that the look on this woman’s face isn’t exactly rapturous joy, but yet there is something serene about her and the fact that she is surrounded by large maple leaves that make her look like she is sporting large angel wings makes up for it all!
This is a recurring theme… finding joy, scheduling in me-time, planting ourselves in the present and enjoying all that life has to offer. This is another reminder to make time every day to do something that you love, to surround yourself with loving and supporting people and to carve away a few of the responsibilities and obligations that are causing you stress.
Halloween is a reminder to make it fun! Trick or treating is such a big deal in our house (although I have a habit of throwing away all the terrible junk they get after, so this year, as they are totally on to me, we are trading for a toy instead!!). But it’s not about the candy, it’s about the overall experience: choosing the perfect costume and spending the time and attention to detail getting ready; it’s about socializing with the neighbours (well for us it is as we are in a pretty rural area and know many of our neighbours over the years); and about accumulating a booty of enormous, sugary proportions! I know that not everyone feels this way, that people see it as a night of vandalism and scary costumes, but if you have a little fun with it you can change your perspective!
Regardless of Halloween, this is just another gentle reminder to find joy every day in a way that is yours. Find your passion and schedule in some time to enjoy partaking in it, no guilt, no shame, no compromise.
Just joy.
