Daily Angel Oracle Card: Moderation, from the Numerology Guidance Oracle Card deck, by Michelle Buchanan
Moderation: “This card indicates a need to exercise restraint and self-control in every area of your life. Perhaps you are overeating, drinking too much alcohol, smoking, over-medicating, or taking drugs, overspending, exercising excessively, consuming too much sugar or coffee, gambling or otherwise overindulging or engaging in obsessive or aggressive behavior. If so, this card serves as a gentle and loving reminder that behaviors such as these can delay the manifestation of your dreams.
This card also indicates a need to balance your desire for freedom and adventure with your responsibilities, because by honouring your commitments, you will prevent the buildup of karmic debt. By choosing to live as your higher self rather than giving in to your lower tendencies, you align with Source and the intentions of your soul. Everybody has a shadow side that needs to be acknowledged, embraced, and loved. But when you learn to rise above it, you can make your dreams come true.
In order to improve your current situation, you are being asked to adjust to, and harmonize with, the natural rhythm and cycles of your life – cycles that are encouraging you to exercise temperance and moderation. Have the courage to seek professional – of Divine – assistance if needed. You do not have to go it alone; you can call upon your heavenly for inner strength and courage.
affirmation: With temperance and moderation, I create balance in my life.”
This is not a card about guilt, or shame, or regret. It is not a card wishing to cause us to feel badly about ourselves, or to go back to our old disparaging or self-defeating ways. It is a gentle reminder to be mindful. Mindful of what we are putting into our bodies; even during the holiday season. Mindful of how much we are spending. Mindful of how much we love ourselves… enough to take care of ourselves hopefully. It is not a judgment about whether you have eaten too much today, spent too much, drank too much or smoked too much…. it is a reminder that tomorrow can always be different. We are in control.
Rather than getting caught up in a negative downward spiral, we are asked to rise above it. Acknowledge that maybe we have been excessive, accept this and change it. Live within our means so that we don’t create messes we have to sort out later whenever possible. Treat our bodies with respect, knowing that how we nourish ourselves creates better peace of mind and higher function. Know that we are capable of change and implementing the necessary measures to be joyful, calm, healthy, mindful and balanced.
Food, water, exercise, caffeine, sugar, alcohol and drugs all have an enormous impact on our bodies, minds and spirits. When one of these three is out of alignment, the others follow suit. When we lose control of our finances, are risky or unsafe in our lifestyles, we are ultimately the ones to suffer. Our angels wish to gently guide us back to the healthiest path…. which in turn will open doors for us in every other aspect of our lives.
I read this myself and know that I can benefit from cutting back. From not eating as much when I am stressed. From having just one coffee instead of two. Of having a glass of wine only on the weekend… even when stressed out! From hitting the gym more regularly instead of sporadically. From drinking more water. From knowing when to call it on buying Christmas gifts. We all know where to work on moderation.
Today, take one step towards moderation. Just one. Pick something manageable and make a little change. Swap out your afternoon coffee and donut for a water and an apple. Meditate instead of watching TV. Try a new exercise class or go for a walk. Add something healthy each day and see your attitude change, your perception shift, your vibration rise.
Oh, and technology counts too… the most insidious of all addictions…. take a break from your computer, laptop, iPad, smartphone… and spend some quality one on one time with yourself or someone you love, it will do you a world of good.
