Daily Angel Oracle Card: Six Of Cups, from the Tarot Of The Hidden Realm, by Julia Jeffrey and Barbara Moore
Six Of Cups: “The salty spray from the crashing waves rain down on her head. Gentle currents caress her body as she relaxes into the bay, giving herself over to whatever experiences may come. The variety of sensations heightens her sensitivity without overwhelming her. The pearl at her forehead, a jewel from the sea, is one she always dons for this ritual, for the reviewing of memories, and helps focus her mind. Whether by chance or by divine guidance, six pink lotus blossoms float past, reminding her to approach her past with love and compassion, for herself and others.
Lowering into the water deeper, she lets her memories wash over her, experiencing them again. She moves even lower, until she is fully submerged, a kind of baptism, a cleansing of her spirit and renewal of her soul. She emerges, water flowing down her face, salt clinging to her skin, the transitory experience of emotions grounded in the solid earthiness of reality and the strange in between world of memory. Being washed by love, she is reborn to peace.”
Divinatory Meaning For This Card: “Memories are funny things and sometimes dangerous things. Recent research in neurology suggests that every time we recall a memory, we change it. The Six Of Cups reminds us to think about the past, to assess it, and to come to terms with it, but to do so with love and compassion. Painful memories can cause bitterness. Even happy memories can cause distress if we compare the present unfavorably to the past. The way you think about your past affects your present and your future. Gently shape your memories with forgiveness and healing so you can face your future with a peaceful heart.”*

Memories wash over us when we try to make life changing choices; they flood us with emotions and cloud our vision of the future. Whether we cling on to the good, or fear the bad, we use these memories as a filter to try to help us decide which way to turn, whether to move forward or stand still. But we don’t realize that these memories become blinders; they shield us from the true Light of possibility. They hold us in repetitive patterns and stop us from fully experiencing the New. We can appreciate our fond memories, and learn from the painful ones, but we must not live by them. We must learn to rise above them to create something new.
If you find yourself nostalgic, allow it for a time, but then release the old shadows of the past and seek the bright light of the Now, this is where the magic is created. Know that new, happy memories will be created, and old hurtful memories need not hold you back from living the life you desire. No matter what your mind tells you; anything is still possible and always has been.
Memories can sometimes contain things that people have told us, limiting thoughts or beliefs that we have clung on to and allowed to shape our personalities. These may have dictated what we thought we were capable, or incapable of being, doing or creating. Let them all go.
The future is bright and full of wonder. There are surprises and gifts on the way, there are new experiences and adventures to be had.
Let go of the past and embrace the present, the future is yours to create.
Namaste
