Daily Angel Oracle Card: Oshun, from the Goddess Oracle, by Amy Sophia Marashinsky and Hrana Janto

Oshun: “Sensuality”

“Oh let me delight you with beauty

so the eye may dance with joy

let me seduce you with scents

so that your nose inhales pleasure

let me tantalize your taste

till your tongue quivers

let me caress you with sound

that makes your ears sing and sing

let me touch your body

with waterfall music

and adorn your beauty with

golden bracelets and honey and perfume

and when all is experienced

when all your senses have been given play

when your spirit from the stars connects in a blissful way

with your body from the earth

then you will know sensuality.”

Mythology: “Oshun (pronounced oh-shun’), the Brazilian Macumba Goddess of the waters – rivers, streams, brooks – is known for her love of beautiful things. She loves to adorn herself, especially in yellows and golds. Her rites at watery places include honoring her with honey ad pennies (copper). Her necklace of cowrie shells symbolizes her knowledge and power in divination. It is said that the women dedicated to Oshun carry the special gift of their Goddess. They walk and dance in the most tantalizing and provocative ways. In their walk is the flow of the river. None can escape their charms.”

Meaning Of The Card: “Oshun appears seductively in your life and cajoles you into remembering and honoring your sensuality. Wholeness is nourished by focusing your attention and time on your body, respecting and giving play to your senses and your sensuality. Oshun is here to tell you that it is time for sensuality. She invites you to follow her lead.”*

We came here to the physical realm to experience the beauty of our interaction with Gaia, the spirit who incarnated into this era as the Earth, and all of her creations. She offers us an abundance of miracles to experience; and we are one of those miracles while encased in this body of flesh. For every ailment she provides us with a cure; if we can take the time and effort to find it. If we are hungry, she generously offers us food. She provides us with water; do we bless it every time we are blessed enough to use it? Colour therapy is available to us in every moment, from the calming blue of the ocean or sky, to the uplifting vibration of a bright flower. Her magnetic grid can realign our chakras, meridians and energy centers; but we must touch our bare feet to her to benefit. Will we take the sacred time to do so? Her trees offer us life giving breath, as well as shelter and comfort. Are we remembering to express our deep gratitude? Are we laying on hands and giving love, a heartfelt hug or an alignment of our spines along a trunk?

Oshun is here to remind us of the sensuality of Being. Of experiencing everything as the miracle that we may take for granted. The ability to breathe fresh air. The feeling of our toes in the sand or in the water. The brilliance of a bush in full glorious bloom just waiting to be noticed. Desiring to heal. That is living in the present. That is experiencing the gift of life. The beauty, the sensuality, every sense lit up. The acknowledgment and the gratitude to keep the cycles going. Giving back to what sustains us.

Miracles, in a simple exchange of Love and Light.

And so it is.

How lucky are we to be here, experiencing this? As lucky as we decide we are; that’s just how it works.

Namaste

Dee
