Daily Angel Oracle Card: Elephant, from the Animal Voices Oracle Card deck, by Chip Richards, Illustrated by Susan Farrell
Elephant: “Responsibility ~ Cooperation ~ Empathy”
The Gift: “Elephants have one of the closet and most loyal families of all the animal kingdom. They live together for up to 80 years, they babysit each other’s young and if one Elephant becomes sick, others bring it food, and protect if until it is well again. When an Elephant dies, the herd covers the elder with dirt and branches. Passing herds will pause at the grave site and offer their respect – even if they did not know the Elephant.”
The Message: “When Elephant enters your life, she brings great blessings. With gentle power and cooperation, Elephant trumpets a reminder that you are a force for good in the world! There are people all around you that love and support you. Ask for help when you need it and be grateful when it comes. Look for ways also to help others on their path. Keep your eyes open for ways you can bring the gift of special support and be helpful when others least expect it!”
The Call: “Take time today to say “thank you” to someone who has been helpful to you when you really needed it. And find someone today that you can show special kindness to. Help them start or finish something they are trying to do. This could be as simple as doing the dishes, cleaning a room, quietly listening or holding someone’s hand as they take their first step into a big dream.”*

Elephants practice Unconditional love and acceptance by caring for each other’s young, by honouring the members of their clans who have passed on, and those of other clans as well. They are deeply connected to the Earth and to the ancestors and ancients. They practice compassion, loyalty and love. We can learn valuable lessons from the elephant.
This is also a reminder of the power of gratitude in our lives.
Gratitude holds unimaginable power. Gratitude has the power to transmute negative into positive, and turns us into magnets for more to be grateful for. It allows us to rise above the drama of everyday life, and it offers us an olive branch when things feel beyond our control. Gratitude can rekindle the Light within us when all else seems to have failed.
What are you most grateful for? What keeps you going every moment of every day? What have you possibly taken for granted that you could express great thanks for, knowing that it has made a difference in your life, has made you a better person? Take time today to express this gratitude to someone who has helped you, who has loved you, and who has helped to make you who you are today. Buy a bouquet or pick some wild flowers or deliver a hand written note. It doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated, even a simple Thank you hug or smile will do wonders.
