Freya ~ Irresistibility: “We are all irresistible in our own ways. Enjoyment is a natural part of life. Center yourself and be confident among chaos.”
“Picture the most beautiful warrior woman, standing proudly upon the battlefield, her hair whipping around her, and her weapon in her hand. She stands proudly, head held high, eyes flashing, a feathered cape upon her shoulders. Around her neck rests the most magnificent gold and amber necklace, glittering against her skin. She is a figure of both  fear and desire.

Meet the Norse godddess Freya. Although she is a deity with many talents, including war and withcraft, Freya is primarily considered a goddess of sexuality because of her independent and confident primal nature. Unashamed of her beauty and power, she is often depicted naked, wearing nothing but the great constellation of a necklace, called  Brisingamen (fire). Freya’s necklace, wrought with gold and amber, represents the power of the four elements and the fertile power of the synergy when these elements come together. When she wears it, she becomes irresistible to all.

In the Norse myth, when ever she rode into battle, she received half the slain and Odin the other half. Her maidens, the Valkyries, assisted her in removing the heroic dead from the battlefield. Even after death, men still wanted to be with her and fight alongside her. Freya was known for her wisdom as well as her irresistable nature, and Norse women sought her out for her blessings and advice on healing, magic and relationship matters.

Most of us could do with a dose of Freya’s confidence and irresistibleness at some point. It is very easy to lose confidence when our feelings are not reciprocated, when we have not felt beautiful for a while, or after a breakup. Perhaps we have never experienced solid physical confidence, and this holds us back from being confident and owning our true power. Freya assures us that we are all powerfully attractive. Her message is that external beauty is not enough – it is the confidence in our attractiveness that truly makes us beautiful.”

Shadow Side: “We are bombarded with images of unreal beauty in today’s world. You only have to look at the digitally altered images in magazines to see that the beauty there is impossible to attain. It is hard to feel attractive when unrealistic levels of perfection seem to have become the norm. Media’s emphasis is always on how to look beautiful or irresistible in a way that the rest of society wants, instead of feeling confident and beautiful to ourselves. When this pursuit of an idealized form of beauty becomes and obsession, beauty is no longer natural or nourishing. We now have large numbers of people who look only to the outside for their self’worth and do not feel worthy if new people are not attracted to them all the time. While Freya was irresistible, she balanced this aspect with the other parts of her nature, such as her confidence and strength.”*

You are beautiful, just the way you are. You have a gift to share in your uniqueness. We are all interconnected, yet we need you to be the important part of the Whole that you are.

When you let go of self-criticism, and Love what Is, right here and now, it is the gateway to being your own true, authentic and irresistible self. It’s fine to have reasonable goals, particularly when they are concerned with health rather than just with appearance. When we strive for perfection in our looks, and ignore all the inner beauty, we are missing way more than we realize. When we pick ourselves apart, we lose the magic of our being as a Whole. We forget our innate Divinity. We look past the beautiful only to see the flaws.

List the things you love about yourself, tell them to yourself in the mirror. Add a new one each day.

Today, walk a little taller. Today, be more centered in your own beauty. Today, look in the mirror and see your very best attributes, starting with your precious Soul looking out from those gorgeous eyes of yours.

And do it again tomorrow

And the day after that

And the day after that

And see how life changes when you shift your perspective

And so it is

Namaste

Dee
