Daily Angel Oracle Card: Sol, from the Viking Oracle, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton
Sol: “Your sense of personal power will increase. Be confident – your situation will improve quickly. Do not procrastinate. Choose love over hate. Do not be distracted by gossip or mockery – these are lower forms of communication. Surround yourself with positive people.”
“Every cell of my being
Reaches up
Like the face of a flower
Turning towards your greatness.
You are the source of all warmth,
The catalyst to my change,
The flow of love to all things,
Golden and beautiful.
I feel filled with now.
I am Sol.”
“Sol is both a goddess and the sun itself. Sol and her brother Mani were born of time (Mundilferi) when the universe was being created. Sol was as golden and beautiful as her brother was silvery and light. At first, Sol was not sure of her role within the new world. But then the gods created times of darkness and times of light, assigning Sol the day and Mani night.
Sol and Mani ride across the sky in horse drawn chariots. Their steeds are named Arvakr (Early Riser) and Alsvior (Swift). Other cultures have imagined the sun as a deity riding across the sky on a chariot, too. For instance, the ancient Greeks saw the sun as Helios and his horses. However, most sun deities are seen as male, which makes the female Sol unusual. Perhaps the Norse peoples saw the sun as particularly rare and beautiful, since their lands were dominated by cold, dark and ice. Also, the sun was life giving, as women were givers of life, so they associated the sun with the feminine.
In some poems, Sol is said to be chased every day by two ravenous wolves, Skoll (Mockery) and Hati (Hate). She manages to outrun them until Ragnarok, when they finally catch up to her and destroy her. This provides and alternative to the mythos of Sol being consumed by the great wolf Fenrir.”*

Again we have the most powerful creation energies, the Sun. And for a change, the Sun as Divine Feminine, which is different energy all together than what we are used to. What significance does this have? Warmth, thoughtful creation and mindful manifestation. Receptivity and fertility. Mindful, thorough and expansive creation through slow and steady action; with an aspect of the things we need coming to us and through us. Healing energy. Nurturing energy.
We can embody these energies and use them to create in our own lives. Knowing that our own Sun energy resides in our Solar Plexus chakra in our navel. When this chakra is energized we experience increased confidence, abundance, and empowerment. We can, quite literally have the ‘Midas Touch’ and accelerated powers of manifestation. Creative expression comes naturally and we are able to really be who we are without compromise.
Stand outside and tilt your face up to the Sun, palms outstretched. Feel it energize you; feel it’s life force. Use this energy to revitalize you and harness it to fuel your passions; allowing your creative juices to flow.
Namaste
