The Devil

Daily Angel Oracle Card: The Devil, from the Shadowscapes Tarot, by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law, artwork by Barbara Moore

The Devil: “She feels the walls closing in on her, oblivious to the fact that she is not completely surrounded – there is the wide world open to either side! The skies cry with songs of beauty and freedom, but she tucks her head down to hide in fear, bound within walls and shackles, though it is only a thin thread that binds her, red as her hert’s blood, and the key is so close, so close. Look up! You wish to cry at her. Raise your eyes and look around you!

But her ears are deaf to any voice but that of the Devil. All she hears and feels is the Devil dancing above her, diving her, goading her, pressing down upon her. Tap tap tap goes the dancing of his hooves in a merry, mocking rhythm. Tap tap tap in the seductive patterns of entrapment of the willing. Tap tap tap he dances, and he laughs with the knowledge that it is with such ease he can hold a vibrant spirit captive.

Look up! Faintly, the voice pierces through the stones and seeps up into her body, and she reaches out.”

Meaning Of The Devil Card: “Losing independence, addiction and enslavement, caught up on the material realm, overindulgence, choosing to stay in the dark, pleasures, lust and desire. Feeling hopelessness close in and limit the options. The Devil plays on your desires with a masterful touch. Break free from the puppeteer’s strings by looking beyond the material blockades and temptations.”*

Swap out the devil for the ego; the busy, worrying, doubting, limiting mind. Holding the heart hostage, as per usual. Doing a dance of victory over your head after scaring you out of following your dreams.

Maybe you just feel like giving up. I know I feel like that sometimes… sometimes or possibly more often than I’d might like to admit.

This ascension process, it’s not easy. There is so much coming up that needs to be cleared, released, transformed and transmuted. It can be exhausting. I am no better at it than anyone else, no higher or lower. Just processing it one day at a time like you are. There is no need for a guru to take you through the process, for we all end up at the same place in the end, traveling the path as only we can. We can ask for assistance or advice, and then we can decide whether or not it resonates with us. That’s the great thing about good will.

But there are an abundance of gurus out there right now. Many cashing in on the process of leading you through it. Beware of all that. Tune inwards instead. It’s free and readily available. Trust yourself.

Stand up and brush yourself off. Then take back your heart. Decide to listen to it from now on; it will guide you like no other. Yes, you will still make mistakes, and you will still get hurt every now and then, particularly if you choose not to listen closely to it’s whispers.

But know that your body is fully equipt to lead you on. You have everything you need to get there. No one else can do it for you. No one else can take it away from you either. You make your choices. You read what you want and take of it what seems real and right to you. You set your intentions for the highest good of All. You use your heart center to weight your options. You banish the fear and take the chances.

It’s all you.

Kick that Devil right out of the picture.

There’s not trap, it’s all an illusion.

Spread your wings. Put your crown back on where it belongs.

You got this.

Namaste

Dee
