Daily Angel Oracle Card: Increase, from the Tao Oracle, by Ma Deva Padma
“Increase all that is good and true. Increase all that is nourishing and uplifting within yourself and for others. In a time of golden opportunity, anything less than abundantly sharing falls way too short of the mark. It has been said in so many ways, and is worth saying again here and now, that giving is far sweeter than receiving.
Today it seems to be increasingly rare to hear of acts of sincere and open generosity that have been undertaken without expectation of reward or recognition. Those delicious, random acts of kindness are not something we usually read about in the papers. Seldom are they ever mentioned on television. Instead, we are more likely to hear of those who have amassed fortunes and used that wealth to expand their buying power.
Nevertheless, when we do hear of some act of inexplicable generosity and caring, we pause, we are moved, and our lives somehow seem benefited by it. It does not make sense that some goodness that happens on the other side of the world should touch our own hearts, but it does. It seems to be a cosmic law that kindness freely given has a potential for expanding exponentially. It seems to go a long way towards healing ourselves and our planet.
Generosity is a simple affair, and the true benefits are primarily experienced within. They are revealed when spirit is unbounded, not constrained by greed or small-mindedness. Then giving becomes receiving, expanding and enriching our hearts. It is tragic to be shrunken and contracted; it is magic to experience inner richness and to spread it around without reservation. So much more is available when we come form a place of ‘plus’ rather than ‘minus’.
Take a walk somewhere in nature, preferably during the fullness of spring, in a place teeming with flowers. Consider how all that richness, that beauty and grandeur, is made available for all to enjoy whether they deserve it or not. Nature does not hold back; she is never miserly. Her times of increase are times that benefit all life, not just a chosen few. She is the ultimate benefactress. She grows flowers at our feet, brings rain to quench our thirst and songbirds to delight our ears, and paints the sky with so many start we are not able to count them. We humans reap the rewards of that abundance when we function from a willingness to share.
The time of Increase is a time to look to Nature for guidance, to learn from that abundant and generous source. Following in her footsteps, you will come to understand compassion, to experience serenity, and discover your own unlimited capacity to nurture yourself and others. By really taking her lessons to heart, you can’t help but be inspired to become the best you can be, and in turn to support others to grow to the fullest realization of their potential.”*

I’ve always wished there was media that just told us all the great stuff going on in the world. I wonder how that would shift things. Everyone with hope and full hearts, hearing about things from a completely different perspective. They could cover the bad stuff, but from a different angle. Like this is the latest disaster, but here are the hero’s and here are all the great outcomes despite it. I think it would take some getting used to, as we would probably feel bad for not acknowledging the worst of the worst. We would have to get used to not focusing on the fear, the terror, the worst case scenario. We could avoid shame and guilt by acknowledging those hurt or traumatized or lost, but we would balance it with the positive. I wonder how that would look? I wonder how that could shift us? I wonder how it would motivate someone to desire to be on the front of Rolling Stone magazine for doing something awesome, instead of bombing a marathon.
It’s up to us to undertake it, one good deed at a time. To increase the vibration of the planet by having a positive influence on those around us. Those we come into contact with every day. Smiling makes a difference. Holding open a door. Being kind when behind the wheel is a good one… how about letting someone in instead of cutting someone off? Cultivating kindness and patience. Being generous with your time. Making eye contact. Listening to their story instead of talking over them with yours. So many little things to make such a humongous difference.
Do at least one today. Be mindful of it. Expect nothing in return, knowing that the ultimate reward would be that person doing something and continuing the chain of positivity.
Know that you can make a difference. But it has to start today.
