Lady Winter

Key Words: “Frozen, Patience required, Matters developing although they cannot be seen, Quiet and solitude, Dormant period, Withdrawal, Feeling isolated, An indifferent heart.”

Timing card for Northern Hemisphere: December, January, February. (Adjusted for Southern Hemisphere)

“With sleeping butterflies tangled in her hair, Lady Winter makes her entrance, decorating the landscape with frosted fingers. She dims the Sun’s lantern in the sky and, with a goodnight kiss, drops her white cloak across the land as it descends into muffled slumber. The blanket of snow provides insulation, as deep in the earth activity continues unseen.

The Earth’s axis tilts away from the Sun, bringing the shortest daylight hours and the coldest temperatures of the year. The Sun sits low in the sky and hibernating creatures withdraw until spring reappears.

Lady Winter freezes things, so this card indicates a dormant period when patience is required; matters may be developing under the surface even though they cannot be seen at this time. I suggests quiet and solitude, withdrawal, or feeling isolated. In relationship readings, it can reveal and indifferent or frozen heart.

Note the difference here between Lady Winter and the Calendar, one freezes something, whilst the other may delay them, but this also implies slow and steady progress. They are both slow moving cards, but the impact will be experienced differently.

For the Northern Hemisphere, this card covers the three month period from the first of December through to the last day of February when used as part of the timing system.”*

Ah, Lady Winter. Do you feel as if all of your best intentions and well set out plans have been frozen? Is this the start you expected for this year, or does it feel a bit slower than anticipated? I think we are all feeling it. Frozen… either literally or metaphorically depending on where in the world you may be today…

But there are butterflies in her hair, so many of them. Yet they are frozen. Transformation is coming, the frost will melt. Will you be ready when it does? We all know that it can freeze overnight and then the sun comes out and warms the earth so quickly… the snow or ice melts away and we forget it was even there. We are outside all bundled up in coats and wool hats and gloves and scarves… and then suddenly we are much too hot! We must peel off the layers that we thought we would need. Things can change quickly.

Yes, Lady Winter is here but maybe for a very special reason. Maybe this is buying you just a little time before the big shift. Giving you some time to look within and see if all is taken care of. Are there any loose ends that need tying? Any final release that needs to happen? Do it now, for time is short, change is coming.

The new moon is just up ahead. The full moon is looming at the end of the month with the added punch of a super blue moon and a lunar eclipse. Are you ready? Take this gift of a little frozen time and use it wisely.

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Weaver Of Words, from the Chronicles Of Destiny Fortune Card deck, by Josephine Ellershaw and Emily Ellershaw, artwork by Claudia McKinney

Weaver Of Words

The Moral Of The Story Is: “Small ideas with big potential, ideas taking off and taking form. The power of words, tact and diplomacy. Writers.”

“Armed with new information, members of the Fellowship use the diversity of their skills to chart their course and forge a plan to invade the Dark Kingdom. Recognizing the strengths gained from magical helpers who have aided them on their journey, they seek out assistance from the Weaver of Words.

The Seekers wait, mesmerized by the golden cloud of letters that jostle and juggle as if to her will before she plucks them from the air, spinning the words like yarn from her pen, as she weaves the fabric of their destiny upon the page.”

Card Definition: “When we read great works by celebrated authors, we can be left in awe by the magic they have woven with their pens. They take an idea, then skillfully and creatively craft the words upon the written page into a work of art that holds us spellbound.

The Weaver Of Words card shows small ideas with big potential, ideas taking off and taking form. Whilst the process may begin with a small idea, it is then the careful work you put into something that will ultimately transform it into a successful outcome.

This card may also remind you of the power of words, for just as the Weaver Of Words plucks them from the golden cloud that surrounds her, it is how they are used and ordered that can either elevate or destroy, and so it may advise tact and diplomacy at this time.

For writers, this card may be representative of the craft.”*

As Twitter has shown us, words are extremely powerful; maybe more so than we have given them credit. Words can be used to praise and uplift, and words can be used to provoke, disturb and belittle. Every word uttered has a vibration, an energy that accompanies it. Every word spoken aloud has an impact, either positive or negative. Written words have longevity, often carrying emotions long past the time they were written; the author may have found peace while the words still hold their punishment. Words can soothe, they can persuade, they can celebrate or they can condemn. Words can make the heart soar; as they can crush it to smithereens. They can embolden, invoking courage or they can frighten and coerce. They can speak the heart’s deepest desires or be dangerous, deceptive, false or misleading. Words can be used to paint colourful pictures and bring stories to life in our wild imaginations; they are the tools of our ancestors who passed their heritage on from spoken word to mind and heart. Yet we often throw them around without a thought of how they may affect others; or come back to haunt us. Once out there, words cannot be retrieved.

I started this blog because I want to help us feel better about our lives and our role in creating our reality. More in control. Empowered, individually and collectively. I desire to connect us with something higher and more profound than what we would see on the news; which always appears full of fear that is constantly threatening to suffocate us. I want to plant seeds of hope when we don’t know what to do; when we feel alone, isolated, or weary of the world. I want these words to heal, to protect, to inspire and motivate. To uplift. To assist people to shut the doors that need shutting. To throw open the new doors fearlessly. To dream bigger. To aim higher. And to have faith in themselves and the power of the Universe. I do it to teach; myself and others. I am learning too as I go.

We are working through middle school here at home. Learning the power of words when used to sting, to bring someone down, to compete and win. We are learning that words spoken behind someone’s back often boomerang right back around at you. And that a kind word uplifts not just the receiver but the speaker too. We are learning the power of compassion and acceptance, for self and for others, and using our words accordingly.

Words are powerful tools. Use them at  your discretion. Be mindful of what you are putting out there; and know that somehow, someday, it will all come back to you.

Book Of Destiny

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Book Of Destiny, from the Chronicles Of Destiny Fortune Card deck, by Josephine Ellershaw and Emily Ellershaw, artwork by Claudia McKinney

The Moral Of The Story Is: “Destiny is created when you actively pursue it. Whilst fate may present certain circumstances destiny unfolds once you move towards it. Action shapes destiny.”

Book Of Destiny: “The Seeker is surprised that the fabled book seems of quite ordinary and unremarkable appearance, with no elaborate cover to imply the magical secrets that it holds. They catch their breath when they find that the bookplate contains a simple inscription bearing their name and, as they delve into the pages, they find the story of their life, penned in the familiar hand of the Guardian of the Books. The chronicles of their great adventure unfurl upon the written page, and as the Seeker reads, they become enlightened to the mystery the Book Of Destiny holds and the final words they find written there, “Destiny is created when you actively pursue it.”

Card definition: “When you take meaningful action in the direction of your dreams, it sets off a chain of synchronistic events, sometimes considered as meaningful coincidences. As the Seeker’s journey demonstrates, some doors open and others close, helpful allies mysteriously appear, whilst challengers test resolve, casting light and shadows on areas to strengthen or abandon.

There is a special connection between this card and Dreams, Weaver of Worlds, and Resolve, since their meanings contain the sequence of actions shaped by the Seeker and echo the secret found within the Book of Destiny. If these four cards all appear in a reading together, they are most auspicious, since they form the practical basis for achieving success through the combined effort of thought, desire, and taking action.

When the Book Of Destiny card appears in your reading, it is the reminder that you write your own book of life. Whilst fate may present certain circumstances, destiny is created and shaped when you actively pursue it.”*

We really come into our power when we realize that we are the ones who shape our reality. We are not the victims of circumstance, we have challenges yes, but we also have the tools, resources and skills to manage them. We are capable, we are strong and we are courageous. We get to be the hero or heroine of our own story. We get to write our own book of life.

What is written in your book of life to date? Is it an exciting story, a sad story, an uplifting and inspiring story? Where have you learned your lessons? Where have you walked away and started all over again? Where have you loved and lost, and where have you had the courage to love again?

Now turn the page in your book of life and see that just one day in the future, tomorrow, the page is blank. What will be written on that next page? What will be written in ten pages, twenty or one hundred? How will each chapter shift and change, how colourful and beautiful could it be… will it be? Take a few moments and imagine the next few chapters in your book of life. Imagine the illustrations, vibrantly jumping off the pages. What do you see there?

What will you create?

What is your destiny?

Word On Wing

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Word On Wing, from the Chronicles Of Destiny Fortune Cards, by Josephine Ellershaw and Emily Ellershaw, artwork by Claudia McKinney

Word On Wing: “The soft murmurings of thousands of leaves carry the secrets of the Tree Spirits, rippling through the forest and gathering pace until they reach far beyond the land of the Dark Kingdom.

The Baroness frequently changes the enchantments of the labyrinth to protect her position and prevent captives from leaving, so the Dryads act swiftly, making arrangements and preparing a route for the Seeker to escape. The bird takes flight, carrying their message to the Seeker in familiar words they will recognize and trust. “Your destiny is in your heart; follow it into the forest tonight and destiny will find you.”

Word On A Wing Card Definition: “Word On A Wing represents news and messages coming in. Doves are usually sen as a symbol of hope, so this is generally news of a positive nature, unless it is surrounded or followed by less favorable cards. If you are using the Story Spread, check to see which card precedes it to show what the news may be concerning, or from where it originates, then the card following for an indication of what the news brings or where it may lead.

The news or message can arrive through any form or communication, such as mail, telephone, text, or even by word of mouth.”*

~ By Josephine Ellershaw and Emily Ellershaw

Messages are coming through, are you listening? You will get a very clear sign today or in the next coming days; heed it. This is the answer you have asked for, and it may or may not be what you want to hear. Heed it anyway. Don’t ignore or second guess it, don’t ask for something else, admit that it was bang on and it was exactly what you needed to hear. Then act on it. Do what you need to do.

For this is actually an opportunity. It is an opportunity to trust, to act on what you know in that moment is the right thing to do, even if it scares you a little. Maybe you wanted to hold on longer, and you are being told clearly to let go. Maybe you are afraid to step in, or jump in, but now you know you must. Whatever it is, this message will have special meaning just for you, and if you act on the guidance you receive, it will have lasting benefits. Even if they are not immediately obvious. Trust.

The message may come in the daytime or at nighttime in your dreams. It may be a sign or symbol, it could be a set of repetitive numbers, an animal totem or spirit animal, birds, an article, song or television show. It could be someone sending you a direct correspondence, phone, text, email etc. It may even be that you find something out about someone that is valuable information, or that they tell you something about themselves that holds the key.

Whatever it is, you will know. Trust your intuition. Watch for signs.

The Dreamcatcher

The Dreamcatcher

The Moral Of The Story Is: “Protection from bad influences. Ability to land on your feet. Synchronicity at work behind the scenes.”

“The Seeker follows the new path that leads deeper into the forest; dappled sunlight trickles through the leafy canopy, chasing away shadows that now lay behind. Ahead of them, a woman sits in a golden hoop, her finders deftly repairing the silver strands of a delicate web.

As she notices the Seeker’s presence, she speaks. ‘How intricate are the threads that weave the fabric of our lives. Moment by moment they pass one into another, deceptively innocent in their apparent disconnection, yet all held together but by one tiny thread.’

She smiles at the Seeker’s puzzled expression and motions them forward to join her, ‘You are safe from the Baroness here; her forest ensnares unsuspecting souls, but mine is enchanted to protect them. Take refuge and recover for all will be well.’

The Dreamcatcher Card Definition: “The dreamcatcher is a favorable card that provides protection from bad influences. Synchronicity is at work behind the scenes, so no matter what you are faced with, you have the ability to land on your feet and overcome difficulty.

The Dreamcatcher, originated from Native American Indians and was used as a protective amulet, providing protection from bad dreams by capturing them in the web and only allowing good dreams to remain and slide down the feathers. Peacocks have the ability to eat poisonous plants without suffering ill effects and this is represented by the peacock feathers in the image.

Consider The Dreamcatcher as a protective amulet that will help you to overcome challenges or adversity.”*

Sometimes we just need an extra layer of protection and support, and this is being offered to us now. When we are putting ourselves out there into unknown territory, stepping out of our comfort zone and into the new, it is nice to know that someone has our back.

You are protected. Know that this can show up in ways that may not make immediate sense. For example, maybe you meet someone who you think is amazing and want to spend more time getting to know them, but either your schedules just don’t seem to jive or you are missing a key element such as phone number or whatnot to get a hold of them. Or maybe they are in a relationship or not ready for one, the timing is off. Let it go. Even though it may bug you, let it go. Know that if they are not available to you, it is for a reason. Yes, maybe it’s timing and that could change, wait for a clear sign. Or maybe there is someone better suited to you on the horizon. Trust that for whatever reason, this is not for you right now because there is work being done behind the scenes. This example can be used in your career; maybe you don’t get the job or promotion you wanted, or maybe you get laid off or lose your job. Trust that something better is coming your way. It could be applied to where you live, maybe you want to move or don’t want to move and you are forced to do what you didn’t want. Whatever the case may be, see it instead as a layer of protection. Protection against future unhappiness and closing of doors that no longer serve you. Trust.

Maybe this protection will not be seen but more felt. Maybe nothing will change when you wanted it to and everything will stay the same. Know that there is a reason for this too. Have patience and know that what is yours will come to you. Is coming to you now. Trust.

And while you are at it, stay true to yourself and nurture your dreams.
