Gebo: “Seek equality in your relationships, especially intimate relationships. Avoid people pleasing and co-dependence. Family and work harmony is paramount. You will be acknowledged for your fine work and your good deeds. A gift will be matched. There is natural justice that runs through life ~ this will be upheld.”

“We agree to union,
One that is sacred and equal,
Side by side.
A gift is given,
Circles back in kind.
Harmony is won,
Justice is invited.
I am Gebo.”

“According to Viking lore, marriages and other unions were created under vows made to the gods. The meeting of souls in these sacred unions was not taken lightly. There were expectations on both sides. Harmony in marriage, equality in provisionary duties and  parity in kinship roles all were valued by the Norse people. Even the gods were called upon to provide guidance and protection in return for the worship, sacrifice and honour they received.

While as modern people, we may not relate completely to the ethical standards of the Vikings, we must understand that, in lieu of sophisticated court systems, they held to a process of justice and judgment that was weighted on the severity of the transgression. Gebo (pronounced “gay-boo”) reflects this balance. What was ‘given’ to someone, be it positive or negative, was expected to be returned. So, if a host received their guest with hospitality, providing them with food, drink, shelter and safety, all this was given with the expectation that the host would receive equal hospitality one day. Or, at the very least, that their guess would respond by being trustworthy. On the other hand, if someone acted with cunning and trickery or destroyed another’s property, this too would be repaid in kind.

Gebo also asks us to heed the laws of nature and find harmony with them. If we humans work as a part of nature not apart from nature, there are countless benefits to be had, not the least being improvements in our own mental and physical health and the sustainability of our planetary resources.”

Gebo as Challenger: “Remember, regarding the nature of gifts, if the gift is not of good intent, this will be returned in kind to you. There may be falsity in someone’s generosity. Justice will be done. If you have been on the side of injustice, justice will be done and wrongs righted.”

We will heal collectively when we reach the perfection of balance and harmony between the masculine and feminine energies. In order to find this balance, we must look within ourselves and to our closest relationship dynamics.

Who holds the power? Is it an even give and take, or is someone running the show? Have you given your power over to another? If you are unsure about this, look at how you feel when you interact. Is there resentment present? Even fear? Is there compromise on one persons behalf that is not matched by the other? Are decisions made in order to please or appease someone rather than for the greatest good of all involved? This is when the scales are out of balance.

The Divine Feminine is the receptive, creative, feeling and nurturing energy. The Divine Masculine is the action, the protection, the thinking, the focused intention and direction. When these two come together within each of us, as they should, balance is attained. When they are unbalanced within an individual it will be mirrored back to them within a relationship; that is often when things start to go sideways. That is where the lesson lies.

If you see yourself as all Feminine or all Masculine without much to connect these two energies, that is where your inner work starts. When you can balance these within yourself, you can balance them outside too. Perfect Yin and Yang, the circle complete. When we each face up to what is going on with us internally, we can heal and move forward, whole, empowered and sovereign beings.

As we do this, balance and harmony are achieved. It starts with each one of us; we can heal the collective.

One-Ring Circus

One-Ring Circus: “You are capable and competent!”

“Independence is key now as you step into your journey today. Others may not have the vision or resources that you need. Recognize that all the wisdom you have acquired along the way makes you particularly competent, capable or moving forward with assurance. Self-reliance is important.

Another aspect to consider is creating and maintaining clear boundaries between you and another. Be discerning about your partnerships at this time. When you know who you are, and have a healthy sense of where you end and other begin, you are able to enter into the best kind of relationships and will attract people who mirror back your wholeness. Interdependent relationships are always mutually supportive, stimulating, and transformative. You can achieve anything at this time.”

If This Card Comes To You As Challenger: “If you think that the sun will not rise without you, then it is time to change. Perhaps you believe no one will be there to hep you, or you expect that you have to do all the work, emotional or otherwise. This is a fear based idea and only serves to alienate you from others by taking away their right to participate.

Revieving the One-Ring Circus card may indicate a misuse of power. Give it up, let go of the need to control how the wind blows, and let others play their part. You do not need to be invincible, have all the answers, or be the savior. Things will get done if you step out of your own way.

Yet another meaning for this card suggests that someone else may be trying to control you. This needs to be addressed. Do not be afraid to set a boundary – this is a wonderful step to interdependence. Consider the example of two trees planted side by side sharing the sunlight equally, neither overshadowing the other.”*

It is time to really trust your own instincts and intuition. It is great to have support and someone to bounce idea off of, but do not get sucked into thinking that you must seek advice or approval from others in order to move forward at this time. In fact, even well meaning advice may actually hinder your progress at this time, particularly if the person giving it has had different life experiences than you have, and may be motivated out of fear to try to protect you. You have all the protection you need surrounding you at this time through your angels, guides and ascended masters. You do not need to second guess yourself; go with your gut, and follow your heart.

On that note, it is wise to really make sure you are checking in with yourself and your inner wisdom. This is not a time to ignore any “red flags” that you are getting from your own intution. Use all of your senses to make decisions that are for the highest good of all, and if something or someone just doesn’t feel right, trust that there is a reason your instincts are telling you this. Do some research, ask more questions, take note of circumstances and behaviours. Do not allow yourself to be controlled by others, you are more than capable of creating what you want in your life at this time. If what looked good no longer has a good feel, change directions. If something or someone just feels right to you, move forward and listen to your intuition.

It really is as simple as that.

The Feminine ~ Muliebre Numen

The Feminine ~ Muliebre Numen: “Do not be afraid of the feminine form or naturally feminine ways. You can be powerful and still feminine. Seek equality. Forget the current restrictions of sexual roles – they limit everyone. There is no need to push forcefully for what you want. Be the best you can be and attract what you need.

To the one that comes from the Goddess,

To the maiden to the wife,

To the creatrix to the seductress,

To the one that bore me to life.

Clear the path for the power,

Of flowers and of seeds,

Of pull, not push,

Of wildness and of bleeds.

We humans may

We humans may have venerated the Feminine Divine for longer than we have any other deity. The One that births, provides, nurtures, creates – She is both the beginning, and at the end, of everything.

In Aradia’s gospel, it was Diana, who was the primary face of the Feminine Divine. Through Aradia, Diana’s teachings encouraged women to seek gender equality in a society from which respect for the feminine was rapidly disappearing. Women of the time were quickly losing their freedoms and the personal powers that they had long-held. They were no longer able to publicly practice certain healing arts, inherit easily, travel alone or often choose their own husbands. Worse still, the kind of new patriarchal religion meant that there were only male intermediaries between the new God and the people and that there were either no roles or very narrow and chaste roles for women in the worship itself. No priestesses, no powerful equal Feminine Divine, no mythos other than one of the virgin mother or the fallen woman.

We are now in a time where the Feminine Divine has made a comeback. Since the 1960s, when the movement of feminism became important and powerful, women have again sought a kind of spirituality that reflected them as women and as equal beings. The rise of the Goddess movement mirrored this rise of feminism and we now live in a time in the Western world when it is safer to worship a feminine deity (or deities) than a single masculine entity. The feminine principles of attraction, pull rather than push, collaboration, and power “together” rather than power “over” could help solve the problems of many societies today.”*

Finally things are coming back into balance. This shift has been a long time in coming. It is even challenging to imagine absolute equality; we are so wired to think in terms of competition; who is on top, who is leading, who is in charge. Rather than a tug-o-war we can just relax, the struggle is finally over.

Woman are being accepted for being themselves; we don’t have to be paraded around as sexual objects. (not that this is not still happening, but we have a choice whether we participate). Women of various shapes and sizes are being revered just for being them, for sharing their gifts with the world. Young girls are being encouraged to be anything their heart’s desire, rather than being stereotyped into female roles. Progress!

In finding unconditional self-acceptance and Love, we must accept ourselves top to toe: inside and out; the shadows and the light. And when we do this, we open ourselves up to infinite possibilities.

And so it is.
