Vishnu: “Balance”

“Rectifying imbalance in your body, mind and soul reduces suffering and pain. The middle path is the best course of action.”

“The Hindus believe that both good and evil exists in the world. This is a natural way of being. When harmony is disturbed, Vishnu appears to maintain balance.

Vishnu, the preserver, is the middle part of the Hindu trinity, between Brahma, the creator, and Shiva, the destroyer. So far, Vishnu has been reincarnated nine times to assist in balancing the powers of light and darkness. These incarnations, or avatars, include those of Rama, Krishna, and Buddha. There is a tenth reincarnation to come, when a hero called Kalki will appear, riding a white horse, to again balance the decline of humanity.

Vishnu, as a supreme spirit, has many attributes, but he is known for his great shakti (energy) and bala (strength). He uses these to keep order in the universe and to subdue injustice and instill harmony. In one avatar Parashurama, he destroyed the warrior castes who were committing great injustices among the ordinary people and sages.

Vishnu is almost always depicted with blue skin and sometimes he rides on his magnificent, bird like mount, Garuda. His partner is the goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi, who sits lovingly with him, often massaging his feet.

Should Vishnu grace you with his presence, know that he is reminding you to find balance in all things. Admittedly, this is hard; we live in a time where seeking balance seems to be at the top of everyone’s list, but first we must be aware of our imbalance! This is where Vishnu asks us to start – with awareness.

Where can you actively seek more harmony and peace? What small or large steps can you take to correct the imbalance for the good of all  – including yourself?”

Shadow Side: “Trying to balance social life and study, duty and freedom, indulgence and simplicity is almost like walking a tightrope. Vishnu invites us to be aware of our imbalances and to seek to correct them. Often the imbalances we aren’t fully aware of – until they give us pain, that is – are the ones we truly need to change. For example, imbalance can manifest as loss of focus, illness, weight issues, bad habits, patterns of low self-esteem, lack of prosperity, and addictions.”

Symbols of Vishnu: “conch, wheel, lotus, bow and arrow”

Invocation: “As with all Hindu gods, there’s a living, breathing tradition to draw upon, so there are many wonderful invocations and chants to be found. I like the following small chant that I learned while in India.

Sit cross-legged or kneel on the ground. Place your left hand, palm upturned, on your knee, and your right hand turned down upon your other knee. Imagine taking in energy from your left hand and grounding it with your right, perfectly in balance.
Say:
‘Lord Vishnu, I feel your balance,
To my left,
To my right,
Above me,
Below me,
Everywhere you are,
I am.’

Repeat this over and over while imagining the shakti (energy) flowing in and out, up and down, through you and around you, in perfect balance.

When you feel balanced, centered, and completed, stand and bow to the north, south, east and west.
Say:

‘I thank you, Lord Vishnu,
for balance in my world and the next.”*

The news of the world could quite literally drag us under. It creates a vortex of negative energy, like a black hole. It can be challenging to maintain personal balance amidst the chaos, yet this is exactly what we must strive to do. It is, quite literally, vital to our very existence.

Bombs are being dropped. Weather patterns are changing, becoming more ferocious… this is only the beginning of this phenomena. There are crazy things happening all over the place. It is quiet overwhelming. Add in our own personal drama, worries, obligations and responsibilities, and we have some very heavy energies to deal with.

So what to do about it all? How do we save the world? What can we do about all this?

All we can really do is find ways to incorporate peace into our own lives, moment by moment. Find ways to incorporate joy, passion, love and harmony into each and every day. Find ways to raise your own vibration and thus raise the vibrations of those around you.

Be the love, joy, peace, harmony and passion you wish to see in the world. Avoid the black hole as much as possible. Do not get sucked in to the fear. Meet it with Light. Fill your heart with love despite the chaos.

As much as you can; no pressure, no doubt, no self-judgement.

Just love. Infused into as many moments of every single day as you can.

Odin: “Guidance”

“Seek guidance to solve and issue. Choose carefully whom you take counsel from. Respect experience; it takes time to develop wisdom and knowledge. Be patient.”

“Odin is perhaps the most honoured of all ancient Norse gods and is referred to as the All Father because of his position as a protector and leader of both gods and humans. He is considered the wisest of all the Gods. The thunder god, Thor, is perhaps the most well-known of Odin’s children.

Odin has an interesting duality, as he is both a god of war and death, and a god of poetry, storytelling and intelligence. Warriors honoured him before battle because they hoped to enter his halls in Asgard if they died. Fathers and teachers, too, honoured him in the hopes that they would be wise and protective for the children in their care. Those who wished to glimpse their futures or gather wisdom though an oracle could us runes – the oracular tool Odin created – which were a series of symbols often carved on bone, wood, or stone. (You can still buy sets of runes today.)

The mighty Odin appears in many wonderful stories, most with a theme of gaining wisdom and accepting wise guidance. Odin is often depicted with only one eye, as he exchanged the other for a sip at the Well of Wisdom when he was traveling to the World Tree, a place of connective power. This enabled him to see far, to know much, and to listen to all of the stories of the world.

Odin teaches us that education and listening to various wise voices is invaluable to won growth and development. The more we know about a situation, the better we can assess it; research is rarely wasted. He also suggests that you can find wise teachers among those with direct experience regarding your situation, or those who have many ears of experience at your task. If you need guidance in any situation, Odin is a solid choice to turn to, and he can guide you toward the answers that you need.

Shadow Side: “While listening to other people’s wisdom it is necessary to gain perspective and to choose what action to take, if we only take the advice of others and don’t listen to our own guidance, we may be giving our power away. Also, it is possible to read too much or continue to gather information when the time is right to act. Imagine if you consulted a couple of books and videos on how to ride a bike but never took action to actually get on a bike to learn how to ride it!”

Symbols: “Runes; the eight legged horse; Sleipnir; Spear tht never misses; Gungnir; The Sun; One eyed man with many names; Odin, Wodin”*

Take time to pause and ask for some help from your “Team”. You know who your team is, right? Your angels and guides and any other light beings or elementals who have agreed to assist you in this lifetime… behind the scenes. They wish to assist you now, and all you have to do is ask, and be receptive.

You may need to take a little break from moving forward in order to allow a new solution or opportunity to come to you. We often think we know what is best for us, and all concerned, when we actually haven’t thought of, or are unable to conceptualize what needs to happen in order for things to happen or problems to be solved. This time, there is something that we may not be seeing, but that our Team is more than willing to help us with. Gratefully accept the help that is on offer.

Sit back and relax. Find a way to be open to finding a solution that comes in the form of a miracle or gift. Keep sending gratitude, which will help to open your heart and mind to what is coming your way, and look for signs, messages and guidance coming to you over the next few days.

Let your Team impress you with their amazing skills!

Cernunnos

Cernunnos: “Shape Shifting”

“Transition and change are flowing through you. Relax and know that you have the power to be what you want to be!”

“While most people think of Cernunnos as a god of the Celts, the truth is, this energy is far, far older. Prehistoric man covered himself with the skins, hair, feathers, and bones of the animals he hunted, and he danced around his fire. As the shadows played against the cave walls, man changed into the very animals he targeted.

Shape shifting is a way of gathering power and information. This is one of the earliest principles of magic: like attracts like. If  you want to catch a stag, be a stag in the ritual dance. Feel the stag, think like the stag, be one with the stag, and then you can better connect with the stag should you need to hunt it. By honoring this father hunter, the horned one, ancient peoples felt they would be better fed and better prepared – and so, more successful.

Cernunnos is often depicted as half human and half stag, although sometimes he is simply depicted as a man with  glorious set of antlers that seem to pierce the sky. His energy is vital, flowing, fertile, and connecting.

Today he is a symbol of the purest masculine energy, untainted and fully connected with his strength and wildness. For this reason, he is extremely popular with the modern pagan and witchcraft communities and is a patron of those who work on facilitating change as environmental activists. You can call upon his shape shifting energy when you wish to transition from one identity to another or to shift back into your most authentic self. If you feel like you have changed recently in ways that do not feel right to you or in ways that feel untrue to your nature, it is time to shift back with Cernunnos.

Shadow Side: “The wilderness demands respect. Many survival shows demonstrate how to conquer nature rather than work with and enrich the environment for the greatest good. If you only use the gifts of the earth, sky and sea for sport, without ever giving back to those same elements, you may need to rethink your attitude.

A balanced masculine nature is one of deep protective connection with the earth and its animals, rather than dominion over them. Today’s hunters could do well to follow a more honorable path than the cold process of taking life. Think also how Cernunnos would view the common practices of factory farming, for example, and reassess what you eat.

Symbols: “Antlers, stag, snake, trees”

Invocation: “Go outside, preferably somewhere green, even overgrown. Take off your shoes. Lie down or stand upon the earth. Now imagine growing roots from your bodyinto the earth and picture Cernunnos, powerful and pure, standing with you.

Say:
In the center of all things is you, Cernunnos,
Great god of the earth, of the sky, of the air,
Of the forest, of things green and wet and wild!
Connect me to who I am.
Teach me how to delve down, like the roots of a tree into
the soft earth,
And find the center myself.
Connect me to what I am to be,
Mentor me to shift my shape
Easily, quickly, certainly.
Balance me,
Give me depth, give me lightness.
Guide me to my true home;
Grow me into my best self.
May I honor you in word and deed.
May it begin from here!”*

The Divine Feminine is rising, and the Divine Masculine is coming forward to meet Her. Balance. Equality. Justice. Deep, divine connection. We are both powerful in our own rights. We both have something profoundly sacred to offer. What has been tainted will be purified. What has been unbalanced for far too long will come back into alignment. It will take work on both sides, leveling the scales so that we can again see eye to eye. In these times we must work together. We must use our power wisely.

Together we are so much more powerful. Twin flames are reuniting to create much needed change through deep healing of old wounds, those on a personal and also on the collective level. When we see ourselves as Divine, and see the magic in the other half, the healing begins. Work from the inside out, and open your hearts wide. Shift from the old into the new and meet your partner as a reflection of your own true divine self.

Heal and be healed.

Jade Emperor: “Organization”

“Streamlining, reordering and decluttering will clear the way to a flow of natural, effortless action”

“The Jade Emperor – or the Heavenly Grandfather, as he is also known – is one of the most beloved and most courted of the Chinese Taoist gods because of his benevolent protection and supreme organizing ability.

As a young deity, the Jade Emperor wandered the earth, humbly helping humans make sense of the world. He taught them how to manage their settlements and their sorrows. To protect the humans, he also defeated the negative energies referred to as demons. Although he possesses a loving energy more than that of a fighter, there are many accounts of the Jade Emperor retreating back to himself to gather his energy and strength in order to have the knowledge and power needed to conquer significant evil energies. It is because of these deeds that he eventually became the administrator of the immortals, the Heavenly Ruler.

Under his leadership are assistants who ensure his Wu way (natural effortless action) is adhered to. These assistants are ordered according to departments, with different gods as the head of each department, but all take authority from the Jade Emperor.

Should the  Jade Emperor enter your realm, it may be time to reorganize, rearrange, and reorder some part of your life. Planning is a key part of getting your desires met. Do not view it as a chore but as something exciting – it leads you to where you most wish to be. Do you need to plan your schedule more effectively? Do you have too many assignments to write, or are your extracurricular activities keeping you so busy you feel hectic? If you have a job, is it difficult to find the time to do everything? Can you not decide what path you want to take because too many seem to be clamoring for attention Writing things out, planning your time, and organizing your thoughts and actions will help, and the Jade Emperor can assist you with this.

Having a clear and workable environment enables you to achieve much more in less time as well. Creating some simple systems can increase your flow of positive energies, such as prosperity and creativity. Take this opportunity to streamline your life.”

Shadow Side: “You can be too structured, which can limit your creativity and your ability to be spontaneous. The shadow side here is having too much order in your life, too much rigidity that you set for yourself and ensure you are being healthily lenient with yourself when you can. Balance is key. Stretch out, reach out, and open for the Wu way.”

Symbols: “Golden palace, robe with dragons embroidered upon it”

Invocation: “This is a wonderful invocation to invite the Jade Emperor to help better organize and simplify your situation.

Light a stick of incense and hold it in your hand in a prayer position:

Say: “I humbly call upon you, Jade Emperor”

Then allow the incense smoke to permeate through your home or office and petition this supreme organizing energy to help simplify, clarify, protect and declutter your space.
Sprinkle some sea salt around the area and then chant three times:
‘Noble Emperor,
Every place has a place.
Noble Emperor,
Every item has a home.
Noble Emperor,
Heavenly Grandfather,
Make sense of chaos.
Transform and order.
Allow me to discard cleanly
And treasure carefully.’

Now begin to sort what you need to sort. Freely discard what you no longer need or what is broken. File or place in storage what you decide to keep. Then repeat the chant and vacuum up the salt.”*

We have one month of 2016 left and we are on to creating something new. It’s time to streamline, de-clutter and make space for something new. What (or who!?!) do you STILL need to release? And why are you STILL holding on?

There is an aspect of surrender to this message as well… maybe you have been fighting to keep something going that is just not working out. Maybe you have been clinging on to someone who is not healthy for you. Maybe you have clung on to old belief systems around what your life should look like or what you are capable of. Whatever it is, this is last call. Let all that go and get ready for something amazing and brand new.

The new is coming whether you are ready for it or not. Decide right now to make space for it, in your heart, in your mind and in your life.

Loki ~ Play: “Look at the lighter side of the situation. Rediscover your sense of humor and play.”

“Loki is a trickster god. Tricksters are those gods who, though tricking, shape shifting, playing the fool or simply playing, become teachers in the lessons of life. In this way, they humble the powerful, expose the unjust, and balance imbalances.

Loki plays his trickster role superbly and is featured in many stories in Norse mythology. One story that displays Loki’s talents is on the theft of Thor’s magical hammer, Mjollnir.

Thor awoke one morning to find his hammer missing. Little did he know that King Prymr had stolen it to blackmail the gods into granting him the hand of the goddess Freya in marriage. Thor asked Loki for help. After borrowing Freya’s winged cloak to help speed things up a bit, Loki flew around until he came upon King Prymr. Acting innocent to the plot, Loki soon ascertained that the hammer was buried underground, and he relayed Prymr’s ultimatum to Thor.

After visiting Freya again and learning from her that she would certainly not marry King Prymr, the Norse gods gathered to discuss their strategy. It was suggested that Thor disguise himself as Freya. Covered i a bridal veil, he could possibly get close enough to his hammer to regain it. Thor was outraged, but the clever Loki convinced him of the wisdom of this play.

And so the “bride” was presented, and King Prymr happily greeted them and invited them to a great feast. Thor, ever the big warrior, began to shovel the food through his veil at a great rate, prompting Prymr to question “Freya’s” hunger. Loki confidently answered that Freya had starved herself in eagerness for the coming nuptials. Unable to control his lust, Prymr then peaked behind the veil only to be met by a set of fiery, savage eyes not fit for a maiden. the king again questions Loki about his bride, and Loki smiled and told Prymr it was because she had not slept for eight nights in her excitement at meeting him. Finally it was time for the ceremony. The king’s men brought out Mjollnir, to lay it on “Freya’s” lap to sanctify her prior to the marriage vows. Of course, Thor now had his chance. He grabbed his hammer and threw off his gown. Thor defeated Prymr and all of his people, all because of Loki’s rather clever prank!

Loki was also well equipped to aid his trickery. As a shape shifter he has few rivals. Stories claim he can change into a seal, a woman, a fish, a horse and even a housefly!

It is wise to take a leaf out of Loki’s book and find a way to laugh at your troubles. It is a great talent to find the humor in any circumstance. Should Loki call you, look to the lighter side of the situation – there always is one! Ask yourself: When was the last time I actually laughed, played, or did something downright silly? There is much freedom in this!

Shadow Side: “It’s not nice to be tricked if the outcome is cruel rather than character shaping. Loki did, at times, stretch friendships, and at these times did not come out as the victor. There is also a big difference between light jesting and making fun of someone. Ridicule just to build up ourselves is the shadow side of play. It tears others down, as well as ourselves.

Another way the shadow side is expressed is when, rather than showing real emotion when things are not going well, we smile through it, masking our own true feelings. Are we covering a soul wound or the expression of healthy emotion with too much play? We must be true to our emotions and ourselves; not cover them with jokes and false laughter.”

Symbols: “Horses, Bound Man, Snakes”

~ By Stacey Demarco

It’s time for you to find a clever way to deal with a certain person or situation in your life. This is not going to be a typical solution, it is going to take all your wit and inner resources. Think of yourself as the trickster. How are  you going to have a little fun with this? How are you going to bring things back into balance, without anyone getting hurt, but in a way that is definitely way outside the box? Yes, things may get a little uncomfortable, but trust me, no one will be bored!

We often chicken out and decide to ice things over instead of making the necessary changes. We laugh when our feelings are hurt, and we brush off the little criticisms or insults we receive. We don’t speak up for ourselves. We laugh at our own expense, get in on jokes that actually hurt our feelings and pretend that we think pranks are funny when we feel humiliated. We lower our expectations of those around us, and when greeted with sarcasm or hostility we ignore it and paste a smile on our faces.

Not anymore!

Now we will stand firmly in our power. We will set boundaries and not allow others to cross them at our expense. We will treat everyone with respect and we will demand that they treat us with the same respect in return. And we will do it with a smile. With a twinkle in our eye and a skip in our step. For we no longer have to take ourselves so seriously. But don’t cross us, it’s really not worth it. Once the line is crossed, and the respect is truly lost, it will take a whole lot of effort on your part to attempt to repair the damage done.

Fair warning.
