Daily Angel Oracle Card: The Singer Of Courage, from The Faeries’ Oracle, By Brian Froud and Jessica MacBeth

The Singer Of Courage: “Bravery, Sublimation of Fear, Moral Strength”

“Someone once said that courage is not the absence of fear but that which enables us to experience fear and not be stopped by it. It is also what enables us to do what we believe to be right even when there is pressure from others around us to do otherwise. It is what enables us to go ahead into the unknown or the perilous, where there are no guarantees of safety or security.

In our lives we are often, even constantly, confronted with a new world, a new way of being in the world, a new way of seeing and of being seen. Ordinary living takes courage, and to rise above the ordinary into the extraordinary takes even more courage. One of the keys to courage is to consider the fear and find a way to let the energy of the fear itself power the action. That is true courage.

Often people think of courage as being part of  high heroism. It is, but it also has its quiet, hidden side as well – and that may require greater courage because we cannot expect the rewards of praise and approval for it. For example, no courage is needed to be unhappy and self-pitying. We do not need to be self-disciplined or wise for that. However, to open our hearts to the risks and vulnerability of joy and trust requires all of those things, especially courage.

Within each of us, there is the terrified inner mouse, and there is the brave inner heart. Either part of us can take over from the other. We get to choose which is in charge. The mouse is a magician with only one trick. It can cast an illusion that it is as big as an elephant. Then fear nearly overwhelms us – but we still have choice. Learning to live with and manage the reactive animal within involves transforming emotions like rage and fear into courage through self-discipline and the help of the Singer of Courage.”

Starter Reading: “Most people have decided by the age of three or four whatever they must do in order to survive. Form this decision, this belief about how the world is, most of our fears and self-limitations grow. Have we the courage to discover and break through these limiting beliefs, awaken to greater possibilities, and go for our objectives?

We need to transcend our fears and accept the gift of courage.”*

“Faery Wings, formed of shifting light, emotion, and energy

are the manifestation of the power of those beings that

transcend the mundane world.”   – Brian Froud

What if, every single day we woke up with endless possibilities in front of us. We could do whatever we wanted, go wherever we wanted, meet whoever, eat whatever and generally experience complete fulfillment? What if we could be lead by our passions and our insatiable curiosity and zest for life? What would you do differently? Where would you go? Who would you see? What would you do? What would you leave behind?

What if you decided to take steps towards those things despite your current circumstances? Decided that you would make the necessary changes to reconfigure your life direction towards fulfillment? Degree by degree, step by step, committed action by committed action. You could completely redesign and restructure your life.

It takes courage to change. It’s not always easy. But it’s worth it if you can just take the steps with faith and trust in the Universe and yourself. Knowing that you are completely supported, unconditionally loved, and continuously guided towards the path of your Highest Good.

Every single day, you wake up with endless possibilities in front of you. See them. Have courage. Take the leap of faith.

Change. Transform. Adjust. Assimilate. Integrate. Imagine. Create. Manifest. Trust.

Breathe.

Be

Strength: “Silence envelopes them. She crouches very close, but not too close. The wolf holds himself still, just a heartbeat away from trust. She may have been waiting there for days or moments. It does not matter to her. There is no impatience, no anxiety in her. With concentration born of love, she stills her own breathing, quiets her heart. She becomes only acceptance. And she waits for as long as it takes, content to feel the wolf’s warmth near her.

The moment cannot be hurried. There is no forcing the matter. She wants to know him, both his nobility and his wildness. More than that, though, she wishes to feel what he feels. She wants to understand him. She is going to witness the moment when he moves from wariness to trust. If she can just see that, then she can embrace the beast inside her. A breeze wafts over them. The moon moves across the sky. Finally his breathing quiets, almost matching hers. His heartbeat slows, and hers seeks to join it. They inhale, so close. Exhale. The next breath they take as one. Neither moves, but both are changed.”

Divinatory Meaning: “In a card named Strength, one might expect amazing feats of physical prowess or of defeating foes. In the Hidden Realm, there is another kind of strength and a specific kind of challenge. We all have our wild parts, aspects of ourselves that have grown careless or reckless or fearful through life experiences that left us wounded, or parts of ourselves that society or individuals have told us are shameful. We deem these parts of ourselves unlovable and hide them away. But they do not stay hidden, lashing out instead in surprising ways that we cannot seem to control. Those parts of us have value. This card represents the most difficult kind of strength: the strength to face and love ourselves, to accept and heal, and eventually to integrate so that we can be whole again. This journey is ongoing, for just as we heal one wound, another often appears. In a reading, this card lets you know that, whatever your question, inner healing and forgiveness are part of the answer.”*

It takes strength and courage to face our shadow side. It takes even more strength and courage to allow that shadow side to come out of the dark and integrate into our true authentic selves; visible to the world. When we hide behind masks to gain the approval of others, our wild side screams with anger and frustration. When we stomp out our fire to keep ourselves small for the happiness of others, it makes that wild side wilder. Eventually, it simply cannot be contained.

It is time to step into the light. There is nothing bad or wrong with your true authentic self. When you make the decision to integrate, it may make others uncomfortable, as they have their vision and their expectations of you in place, and they may not wish to make the effort on their own part to accept you the way that you really are. But regardless of this, it is time to step into your power. Do it with love and self acceptance. For the Highest Good of All. Align with your Higher Self and move forward fearlessly. And that is how you will find your life’s path.

And so it is,
