The Desert: “Sacred Archetypal Element Of Fire”

“In the desert, we are surrounded by sand and a fiery red sky, with sun pouring down on the ground and wavy energy rising into the air. This is not a mirage, but rather another dimension – the domain of fire. Many mystics have quested for answers to life’s deepest questions in that place of aridity, fire and heat, for it is a place of true transformation. The energy of fire is quick; it consumes everything in its path in the blink of an eye.

The energies of fire push us toward the death of the old and the struggle for new birth, for when we go out into the desert we realize how tenuous our hold is on life, and how easily and quickly we might perish. Yet it is in our willingness to die to the old and leap into the fires of transformation that we surrender the outcome and the future to wisdom tempering quality of fire: it burns away the dross, which includes everything except the essence of what needs to be carried forth. Out of the flaming heat, the scorching fires of transformation, true wisdom is born, rising up out of the desert pyre like a phoenix with brilliant multicolored feathers glinting in the relentless sun.

When you draw this card, it indicates that you are in a fiery process of death, rebirth, and transformation. Spend some time sitting before an open fire or in the sunlight. Light some candles, especially in the dark days of winter. As you meditate on the desert and fire, consider what no longer serves you and offer it to the fire. Ask the fire to embrace and guide you safely through your transformation. Fire can provide you with the courage to face whatever challenge is before you, and the energy and vitality to accomplish your goals with responsiveness, wit and passion.”*

Venus is back direct and things are going to heat up a little, it’s about time! Oh how I have missed our beautiful Goddess of Love energy. We were forced deep into the nether regions of our psyche to unearth all that old pain and trauma concerning relationships and self love that we has been holding us back. It’s been challenging, but oh so necessary for us to purge and clear all that old junk out. The future is not the past. We have learned our lessons and we have released them. We are finally ready to move forward fearlessly, giving and receiving love.

Are you ready?

Ok not to spoil the fun… but be aware that this is where we are headed, but there may be just a little residual energy to deal with before things get really juicy… sigh… just when we thought it was all passion and love…

So here we have the desert… and do not worry, the element of Fire will help us to burn away all the fear, all the doubt, all the excuses and anything and everything else that has been keeping us stuck for way too long. It was high time to clean house! Now take all that old clutter you don’t need anymore and offer it up to fire. Literally write it all down, light a candle, and burn it away (obviously being careful not to light yourself or anything else on fire while you are at it!)

You are the phoenix, rising up from the ashes. What will you create now? What will  you allow to come into  your life now? What else is possible?

Invite love and passion and sensuality.

Be love and passion and sensuality.

Ooh, is it getting hot in here or is it just me?

The Crested Ibis

Daily Angel Oracle Card: The Crested Ibis, from the Anubis Oracle, by Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf, Illustrated by Kris Waldherr

The Crested Ibis: “Sacred Archetypal Element of Air”

“The Crested Ibis, known to ancient Egyptians as the akh bird, is associated with the element of air, and with Thoth as he relates to the cosmic mysteries. The crested ibis is in essence the phoenix rising from the fire. It speaks not only of rebirth but also of the clear thinking that gives you the understanding of your journey. This beautiful bird is a powerful symbol of the ability to conceive of a resulting creation in advance of its actualization; it refers to the preconceived idea and the goal, both of which are contained in the mind.

The domain of the element of air includes communication, language, and articulation. It is through air that we speak words of power, and it is by making sound and music – toning, chanting, singing, speaking, laughing and breathing – that we express the element of air. Through our connection with air we find sound within ourselves and communicate directly from the throat. Asthetics, including beauty and pleasure, also exist in the domain of air.

When this card comes up in your reading, it is time to look at how you express yourself, especially in your communications with others. You have a valuable ally in the Sacred Crested Ibis. When you meditate on this card, you will feel your consciousness rise as you are uplifted to a higher perspective, from which you can see whatever situation or question you have brought in a new way. Use this perspective for clarity and ‘Thothfulness” in your thinking and in your speaking.

Drawing this card can also mean that it is time to lighten up. Air will assist you to experience and express wisdom with joy and a light heart so that you can appreciate the humor and playfulness available all around you.

Air is your ally. Breathe deeply. Free yourself. Experience awe; then express your gratitude with exuberance.”*

~ By Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf

The Ibis comes like the Phoenix; a sign of the transformation you are going through right now. Rising up out of the ashes, eyes focused on the stars. Freedom is yours at last.

This rebirth comes with a blank slate; one that you must paint with the colours of your thoughts and emotions; manifesting your new reality. This process gives you free license to reinvent who you are in the world using creative self-expression. This means taking off any masks you have become comfortable wearing; ones that you put in place over the lifetimes to protect you, to hide your true identity. Speak your truth clearly and unapologetically. Choose those you hold close to you with discernment. Incorporate mindfulness into every moment of every single day. Move through the world with absolute integrity. Let as much Light and Love into your Being as you possibly can; upgrading moment by moment, minute by minute, hour by hour.

Visualize yourself rising above the old and soaring up into the new. Feel that Lightness of Being. Know that this is your new reality, and that everything you have worked to release, that which no longer serves you, will fall away. Leaving you perfectly poised for your brand new life.

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Nine Of Wands, from the Tarot Of The Hidden Realms, by Julia Jeffrey and Barbara Moore

Nine Of Wands: “He felt it first in his core. A spark in his solar plexus began to glow and then burn. The energy radiated throughout his body. With every movement, his aura crackled and popped. The desire, the need, to create, to do, engulfed him. He welcomed the heat and reveled in the inner burning. acknowledging his passion, he danced with the energy until he became the energy, until he lost control and the energy became him and he was lost to it. With a bust of flame, a red heat that glowed white-hot at the center, he was gone.

Consciousness melting, body dissolving, he fought to keep himself solid, to no avail. Liquid heat now danced in him, singing a new song with powerful tones and a chaotic melody. It moved and churned in him until it became him, until he found himself. Transformed. Tried by fire. Tempered. All that was no longer him burned away, and he discovered himself anew. Stronger now, he rose, truer and purer, from that which destroyed him, or perhaps from that which created him. He danced himself into being.

Divinatory Meaning: “The ephemeral power of fire is so beguiling. One taste of the creative force, the passionate drive, makes us feel so alive that we want more. We seek out the intoxicating thrill of doing more, creating more, being more. As we achieve more, our confidence grows. Successes increase. We take on more than we can manage until we collapse under the weight of the ephemeral flames. In that state, we are forced to reassess, to consider our priorities. What is it that we really want? What is it that matters most? From the center of the chaos we have created, we reemerge with the certainty of our true passion. With that singular focus, we find new power.”*

~by Julia Jeffrey and Barbara Moore

We are facing the element of fire; complete transmutation through the burning away of the old. Rebuilding from the ground up. Every aspect taken into account. The darkness and the Light dismantled, purified, concentrated. Completely transformed. A metamorphosis. Rising up from the ashes of our “story” of our identity. Rising up from our old ways, leaving all that dense energy behind.

This is Alchemy. Turning lead to gold; darkness to Light. This is Life expanded, stretched, remodeled. A second chance; an overhaul; a revamping; a complete recreation from the ground up. And you get to decide how it looks, how it feels, what it holds, who you share it with.

First face the fire. Burn away that which is no longer needed. Offer it to the flame with pure heart; trust that what is coming is better than anything you could even have imagined.

The best is yet to come. Or maybe it’s here now.

Your choice.

Goddess Ishtar & Astrophyllite: “Daring Rebirth”

“We bring you the empowerment of daring rebirth. The bold spirit in you claims the divine defiance of the phoenix. It refuses defeat at every turn! No matter who or what may seek to overpower your spirit, your peace, your loving heart and your wild optimism, you shall triumph in a divine and daring rebirth. Do no limit yourself with expectations – whether from another or your own mind. There is so much possible for you – a radically different and new you to become! Believe and so shall it be.”

“It takes daring to imagine a new life. Boldness of spirit and willingness are needed to allow yourself to embrace and live that different life. You can be in this world as you choose to be. The truth of you can have many different versions – some fearful, some free. There is so much that is possible for you to experience in this life. you have the light and power of a living sun inside of you!

Rebirth is new life – a different life – a different you, that is truthful, authentic and yet more vibrant, radiant, vivid and free. It is possible for you to have all this. The requirement for rebirth however, is an experience of shamanic death. This is not physical death. It is spiritual transformation. It requires that whatever is keeping you from living a happier, freer, more beautiful, joyful and soul-satisfying life  be sacrificed, be allowed to die, so to speak, so you can be born anew. To the extent you have believed yourself to be those things, felt attached to them or that your identity was wrapped up in them, you will feel like you are dying along with them. You are changed through this process. You will not feel, think, behave or believe as you did prior to it. Shamanic death creates transformation so profound as to allow a more real you to emerge from the process. it strips you of what you have believed yourself to be and what is left is the real you, unencumbered, unveiled and true.

The need for daring is because shamanic death and rebirth can frighten the mind. Whilst you will be celebrating after the process happens, when you are going through it, your fears will be stimulated. This is supposed to happen. How else can you lay your fears aside unless you confront them and choose to let them go? If they are hiding in the shadows, you cannot deal with them.

Your fear might be of success, of your own value, of being alone, or being rejected abandoned, judged, ridiculed, shamed or ignored. Your fear might be that you’ll mess up or regret your decisions. It might be that you won’t know who you are if you are not your job, relationship, role as a parent or healer, or any other limited identity you have tried to project your entire being into. Life on the other side of that fear might seem unfathomable to your mind. You might worry that you will simply cease to exist. Just to be clear however, no one who has transitioned from fear-based reality into love-based reality has ever said, or will ever say, “I miss my fear-based reality!” Although it can be painful, what you are giving up will not be a cause for regret.

The extent to which you are willing to dare, to confront and release your fear (rather than believe your fears are accurate reflections of reality), is the extent to which you can experience rebirth. Your rebirth can be so radical, so daring, that you will feel as though you are living an entirely different life within this one lifetime.

The Oracle of Daring Rebirth comes to you when there is an opportunity to confront a fear and release it, to let go of a belief system or behaviour that is getting in the way of the life you actually dream of living. It’s your decision whether to challenge that fear now, later or at all. If you are doubting your readiness and capacity however, this oracle suggests that you are more ready than you think you are and that your time is now.

There is a new you emerging. It might shock your friends and family. People may accuse you of not being you anymore, but you are becoming more you than ever before. Trust the new you emerging in the greater authenticity and strength you are discovering in yourself. You do not have to squash your being to fit in with the expectations of any other. Through daring rebirth, you tap in to the courage you need not only to go through the process of transformation, but the spiritual sassiness you need to give yourself permission to love and be the new you that emerges at the other side of it. Treasure that self reborn, for it has been hard won and is a divine treasure.”*

Dark Moon

Dark Moon, from the Wild Wisdom Of The Faery Oracle, by Lucy Cavendish

Dark Moon, from the Wild Wisdom Of The Faery Oracle, by Lucy Cavendish

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Dark Moon, from the Wild Wisdom Of The Faery Oracle, by Lucy Cavendish

Dark Moon: “Maturation, Growing up, Introspection, Know thyself”

“This faery being seems shrouded in deep contemplation. Crooked in the cradle of a darkening moon form the northern hemisphere perspective, a dark air of regret swirls about her. This sad being represents the darkening – the time when we self-assess – and like her, grapple with understanding our response to a real test. She feels withdrawn, very young, very child-like, raw and untried. This is no failure of hers – she is facing the sadness that can lie within, asking the difficult questions. On her head curl the horns of the ram, showing she is a fiery being, one who has been brave and headstrong, and who for a time has stepped back to unfamiliar territory – that of the questioning of self. She is one of the few of her kind left, and her dilemma is that of feeling isolated and winnowed out, and of being treated unjustly. She faces a quiet kind of extinction, and knows that whatever she chooses to do now will determine her fate. And so she takes this time to ponder, and to sit, and to understand before acting. She is both masculine and feminine, her horns indicating many years of being on the earth, as they are mature, thick and heavily curling. She has survived on little over the years, and asked only to keep going. But now it seems she faces a real threat, and must take steps to not only survive herself, but to ensure that those like her continue on. From this dark time of deep contemplation, she will emerge and come out again into the world with strength, determination and knowledge. She will flourish again – but for now, it is the time of the dark night of the soul; and it is necessary and good, for of it wisdom will be born, and her kind will live wild and free once again.”

Divinatory Meaning: “Interestingly, this can be interpreted as a menopausal card for women, or one of seeming “bad news” bringing about change, as their moon times move to darkening. It is a time for understanding the frailties of the self and understanding the wisdom your years on this earth have taught  you. Knowing that there is “nothing” that can be done at this time. Knowing that you need to understand where you are responsible for the current situation. Learning and taking ownership of responsibility will create freedom and new opportunities. Move through this and feel renewed, alive and as though your own personal evolution is finally, finally underway. It will never be too late. The tests and the subsequent wisdom make this life here so worthwhile and will create your beautiful legacy for generations to come. You will rise up from this, as the phoenix is reborn from the ashes, just as the moon will wax and grow full once again. Have hope, but do spend time in contemplation.”*

~ By Lucy Cavendish

We must experience a death before we can experience a rebirth. Sometimes, we deny ourselves the natural cycles of our lives, feeling that we must cling on to the old, instead of embracing the new. This is so very true in the aging process, particularly in our current society. Both women and men are clinging on for dear life to youth, through plastic surgery, extreme diet and exercise programs, and finding much younger “trophy” spouses. They are denying their life experience in trade for a younger appeal. Growth is denied. Can you imagine this in the natural world? Dogs refusing to get past the puppy stage? Trees trying to stay sapplings? Frogs trying to appear as tadpoles for just a little longer? Seems pretty silly and unnecessary when you look at it that way doesn’t it?

Embrace your deep wisdom; your life experience. Share it with the world. It is part of your gift, and when you step into this aspect, your light will shine more brightly than ever. This is part of self love and acceptance. It’s about loving every phase of this amazing physical body… yup, the meat suit! That got you through this life, no matter how “flawed” you perceive it to be!

We know we are more than this body. We know that we are eternal Souls, experiencing the physical plane. We are here for a much higher purpose; to help in the ascension of Gaia! News flash: It doesn’t matter what you look like when your are comfortable in your true Soul self, walking your path, following your Soul purpose.

Isn’t that a huge relief? That you can let all that other stuff go?

We can fly. At any age. With any body.

We just have to decide that we can.

Know what you want. And go get it.

You are so lovable and worthy; you are exactly your perfect Divine Self.

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Walrus, from the Messages From Your Animal Spirit Guides, by Stephen D Farmer

Walrus: “Remain vigilant about the current situation; pay attention to signs and omens, and let them dictate your choices.”

“Signs and omens show up in myriad ways, from the wind’s rustle of the trees that make it seems as if they are whispering to you at a barely audible level, to the rainbow that appears just before an event in which you are participating. When you are pondering any kind of question about your life purpose, relationships, career, or even everyday concerns such as whether to actually take the vacation that you had been planning, you can ask Spirit to give you clear and specific signs. Then watch, listen, feel and allow thoughts to flow. While you may not always get absolutely clear responses, more often than not you will pick up on signs or clues through your eyes, ears, sensations in your body, or thoughts that seem to come from out of the blue. You may even have vivid and remarkably lucid dreams that you can easily recall in the morning.

Look for the unusual and repetitious. For example, if you hear someone at the supermarket talking about Phoenix (auditory); spot a billboard advertisement with the word Phoenix prominently displayed (visual); and then recall a period of time when you lived in that  city, feeling a calmness and joy (sensations) when you bring up that memory (cognitive), these are all clues. It could be about the city of Phoenix, Arizona. Or it could be a subtle way that the spirit guide Phoenix is calling you, offering his help when you are ending one cycle completely and beginning the next one – as in the metaphor of the Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Omens are perceived in the four ways mentioned. If you do not get clear signs right away, keep your question or concern in your consciousness for the next few days. Journal about anything you find significant, and look for repetition. When you see an animal (or a symbol of that animal) showing up repeatedly, it is most likely an indication that your spirit guide is present. Trust the signs and your discernment of them, as they are one significant way that Spirit guides you along our path.

Fluidity; Watchfulness; Ingenuity; Alertness; Transitions: Gregariousness; Omens; Sociability; Earth; Water; Survival; Competence; Adept; Copious; Wordsmith; Circulation; Shamanism.”*

– Stephen D Farmer

Walrus has stepped in to let you know that your animal spirit guides wish to communicate with you. These messages can sometimes appear cryptic, and may seem challenging to decipher, however, if you simply set the intention that they send you clear, concise and easy to interpret messages, they will happily oblige. Then, our job is to remove distractions and detach from the drama of every day life in order to be as receptive as possible. Spend as much time outside as possible to facilitate the flow of energy and information. Touch the trees; smell the flowers; listen to the birds; send love to the Earth. Breathe deeply and still your busy mind.

Embrace the signs, messages and omens… even if they are redirecting you. Surrender to the Divine, knowing that your highest good is manifesting.

Daily Angel Oracle Card, from The Crystal Ally Cards, By Naisha Ahsian: Fire

Fire: “The Element of Fire is an intensely powerful Ally to call upon when total and extreme cleansing and change are called for. Fire dwells within the heart of the Earth, and its mighty force is displayed in its ability to turn solid rock into molten lava. Its powers of destruction feed the cycle of rebirth and life, as exampled in the legends of the Phoenix.

The legend of the Phoenix tells of a great bird of incredible beauty that was said to live 500 years. At the end of its life the Phoenix would burst into flames and be consumed. From its own ashes the spirit of the Phoenix would fashion a new body, and be reborn into another life cycle with the beauty and purity of youth restored. This legend speaks of Fire’s power of transformation.

Transformation is the changing of form, appearance, or structure. In the legend of the Phoenix, the power of fire changes the form of the old bird into ashes, and then to the form of a young bird once again. Through the cleansing and purifying force of Fire, the ancient Phoenix is restored to its youthful purity and beauty.

The powers of transformation and transmutation make Fire a vital force to invoke for those who are in need of drastic and profound change in a situation. This change is not easily bought, however, and one can expect to learn significant lessons about life. The saying “trial by fire” is not just a phrase, but is an aspect of the spiritual quest that is considered crucial to the acquirement of mastery of the physical plane and the process of manifestation.

The Elemental force of Fire is embodied by us in our second and third Chakras, located two inches below and two inches above the navel. These centers are the seat of our creative force, sexual energy and will. These Chakras are often overlooked or misunderstood in our culture as being centers of “base” energies that are not “spiritual”. In fact, these energy centers contain powerful forces that are an integral part of our personal power. Our own will to create and pro-create is an echo within us of the creative force of the Universe. Each of our creations can be an offering of thanks to the Universe that bore us, and a representation of the Light that we strive to bring to this physical realm.

Through invoking and facing the creative force of the Fire within, we can purify our energy, transform our bodies and minds, and transmute our creations into higher and more beautiful expressions of the Light. The polarity of the creative force is destruction, which is also an important aspect of the energy of Fire. Utilizing Fire’s power of destruction, we can dis-create those aspects of our lives which no longer serve us, and from the ashes we can form new and more joyful creations.

The message: “The Element of Fire has appeared as a signal for you to prepare for a transformation! You are being initiated in a “trial by Fire” that will create drastic change in your experience of the physical world. Before the creation of the new can begin, however, the destruction of the old must take place. Fire is directing you to seek deep within, to find the outmoded aspects of your life, and then offer them up tot he dragon within, to be transmuted into new and more beautiful creations.

Old habits, possessions, beliefs, and creations that no longer serve you are to be swept away in the flames of your own creative force. From the ashes of these outmoded creations, new and more powerful creations will emerge. By offering those things that are no longer needed to the flame of creations, you are making room in your life for the gifts the Universe is offering to you.

This transformation and transmutation of spirit will be intense. It is through Fire that we become purified and renewed. Attempting to hold onto those things in your life that no longer serve you will only create difficulty. Release them readily, and you will find them replaced with the “gold and jewels” of spiritual growth and abundant physical creations.

One way to aid in this release is through a candle ritual. Carve symbols for those things that you want to release or transmute into the sides of a candle. Light the flame and meditate upon releasing these things to the flame of fire that will transmute them. Allow the candle to burn until all of the symbols have been melted and transmuted into heat and light. Focus upon releasing them to the Universe, where the creative force will utilize the energy to create new and better forms for you.”*

It’s time for a major transformation; starting from the inside and working out to every aspect of your life that is old and outmoded. There is no way of fighting this change, meet it with the intention to flow with grace and ease. Do not fear this transformation; as the outcome will put you on your Divine path. Step into your power and know that you are being Divinely Guided. You cannot lose when you choose higher vibration over lower; higher consciousness over stagnancy, and raise yourself to new, previously unimaginable territory. Yes, there may be a few growing pains and sometimes it is difficult to say goodbye to that which no longer serves you, but you must bless and release; placing your heart with trust in the hands of the Divine.

I love the idea of letting the fire of the candle take the symbols of the old, transmuting it into the new, and I highly recommend that you join me in this ritual… especially during the New Moon! Let us rejoice and welcome change, transmuting negative to positive, setting free those who hold us back and blessing everything new that is coming to us now.

I accept change in my life with ease and grace. I am unconditionally loved, accepted, and fully supported during my transformation and forever after by the Divine.
