Daily Angel Oracle Card: Nine Of Arrows, from the Wild Wood Tarot, by Mark Ryan and John Matthews, artwork by Will Worthington

Nine Of Arrows: “Dedication”

Card Description: “A figure clad in skin robes decorated with patterns of leaves, stands in a clearing amid the Wildwood. She is holding a bow as though it were an instrument, the back of the bow cradled in her arms and an arrow held against the string as if it were the bow on a fiddle. Around her, repulsed by an invisible shield, are another eight arrows.”

Card Meaning: “The spiritual warrior dedicates their arrows of inspiration by playing the bow as an instrument of summoning. The inner oath helps keep one on a balanced footing by dedicating skills to a greater good.”

Reading Points: “To heed the calling to dedicate one’s life to any skill, spiritual path, belief system or philosophy requires sincerity, self-discipline, and hard work. It is a sacred summoning that requires time and effort. For those who hear the calling and become spiritual warriors and protectors of the land, responsibility and sacrifice are also required. To deny that the human species has had a negative effect on the planet’s climate and atmosphere seems totally redundant. The growing awareness of our individual impact on the ecosystem may take on greater significance in the future. We cannot predict what effect our avarice and rapacious exploitation of the land will eventually produce, bu the dedicated defender of the soil must protect the living legacy we leave for our children. To teach by example the value of respecting other’s beliefs and philosophies in honouring the land is immensely important. Sometimes a simple daily ritual reminds us of the oath we have taken to conserve and protect the environment. Dedicate yourself to the task of preserving the land and be a part of making a difference.”*

To me she represents the Devic or Elemental realm… how her hair ends in feathers and leaves cover her scarf… her robes blending with the growth patterns of the trunk of the tree. She is slightly forlorn, but also very focused on the task at hand. She is using her arrows in the most magical way; as instruments of peace and scared service, not as weapons in the traditional sense. She wishes only to heal, to assist, and to send her intention out far and wide knowing as she does so, she is capable of making a difference.

Just as each and every one of us can make a difference as we change our ways. As we choose healthy lifestyle choices for ourselves, our families and our Sacred Mother, Gaia. We choose sustainable resources, we choose not to use plastic, and we choose to reduce, reuse, and recycle. We can choose to plant a garden or a tree and nurture it free of chemicals. We can choose to support local farmers and businesses. We can choose to walk, bike or take public transport or to share transportation with others.

We can choose to make a difference. A big difference.

And this difference is made one person at a time, one choice at a time. Coming together as the collective to say NO where the governments do not bother. Where the laws do not support the environment or the people. We can use our leverage as a whole to put companies out of business by simply not purchasing from them. But learning to grow our own crops. By not stepping foot in the big box stores… or at least slowly weaning ourselves off. By choosing experiences over possessions. By refusing to fill our living spaces with clutter and stuff. By teaching our children that a plastic toy that lasts a few min at hand and a millenia in the landfill is simply not an option.

We can set an example by being different, choosing differently and living by our own code. And encouraging others to do the same. Teaching the children to do the same. Building strong communities.

Because no one is going to make these changes for us. And by the time they catch up it will most likely be too late.

Choose today, right now, to do something differently every day. Bring your own bags. Bring your own cup to the coffee shop. Shop at the local consignment shop. Donate what you are not using to someone who needs it. Plan a garden, even if it means a few pots on your patio. Plant a tree. Do something that makes a difference. And do it with ease, grace and the joy of helping to heal the damage that has been done. The damage that we can no longer sustain, make excuses for or tolerate.

For our Great Mother.

And so it is

The Master Maker

Daily Angel Oracle Card: The Master Maker, from The Faeries’ Oracle, By Brian Froud and Jessica MacBeth

The Master Maker: “Skill, Craftsmanship, Magician, Moral Strength, Invention”

“The Master Maker is the master of the forge, upon which we create our futures and forge our own souls. He sees the world beyond the otherworld, the world of first causes. Through his magic, he brings them into his world of Faery. From his world, these concepts trickle down into our own, through dreams and visions picked up by artists and craftsmen everywhere. But he makes the first, the original. He is the great inventor, and the sign above his door reads: Practical Problems Solved Here.

He sings as he worlds and, as in all Faery magic, his song does as much to shape objects as do the blows of his hammer. Healing cups, magic swords, Faery jewels, crowns of stars, and other bespelled works of the finest craftsmanship pass through is forge and beneath his hammer. The master of fire, air, earth and water, he adds the Faery element of moonlight to everything he creates. He would be the first to tell you that superb craftsmanship, however magical, is hard work – joyful and energizing hard work, but always challenging. As the Master Maker reminds us, “no job is too small to do beautifully.” His work is done as well as possible, even where it will never be seen by anyone else.

Bringing ideas into excellently crafted reality can only be done when we, like the Master Maker, ware willing to plan meticulously, begin carefully, and persevere through difficulties, learning still more of our craft as we work. Craftsmanship is also a labour of love. We must be willing to tackle difficult challenges and have a determination to surpass previous achievements. Patience is always required, as is the willingness to do a thing again and again until it is even better than the best one can do. The Master Maker has the moral strength to refuse the temptation to do anything less, and he is a protector and teacher of the traditional values of his craft. Yet, in balance to all of this, The Master reminds us that we also need to learn our own limits – not everyone can do everything superbly. When we discover our talents and choose our craft, then we gain great joy and fulfillment from developing that skill into an art.

We grow more like the Master Maker each time we do the best we can – and then stretch ourselves to do a little better than that.”

Starter Reading: “Do whatever you do as well as you can. And then make it even better. The Master Maker reminds us that our very best work is always desirable, and in the present situation, it is necessary for success. In fact, he asks that we surpass our previous best. Do not cut corners and do not take the easy way. Whether making a thing or fulfilling a concept, be sure the design is elegant, pure and functional, and then follow it, attending to every detail in its turn. He says, “Design beyond your skill, and then raise the level of your skill to fulfill it.”Give and accept only the best, and do it with love of your craft, whatever that craft may be.

This card speaks of long-lasting achievement, creative problem solving, and confident action. It may suggest cooperation with others, especially from a position of responsibility or of teaching one’s craft to others. Success comes from practical application of traditional principles, in life and in work.”

As Challenger: “When The Master Maker’s wisdom and skill are blocked, shoddy craftsmanship is a problem. It doesn’t matter what the art or skill or craft is, it doesn’t matter whether it is physical or intellectual, this situation is likely to deteriorate badly if people do not give their best – and then do even better than that. This card reversed may represent haphazard work, mediocrity, lack of skill, or unrealized potential. While traditional values of quality and integrity of workmanship are important, being dogmatic or stuck in outworn ways just for the sake of tradition is another block to the art of the craftsman.

Twisted, the wisdom of this card becomes indicative of the misuse of craftsmanship. For example, we might use our skills in finishing to hide flaws in a structure of either a physical object or a concept or organization.

The destructive mode here is to use our skills and craftsmanship, in any field, to create the means of destruction, whether of lives or the environment or hopes and dreams.”*

If you are going to do something, do it right or don’t do it at all. This is not about perfectionism, it is about putting your heart and Soul into something that represents you. It is about using your energy to change your environment; quite literally putting your mark on the world.

This is something that you just can’t do half way, you have to throw yourself into it. And how do you do that? Be absolutely present while creating. Don’t let yourself get distracted by the past or the future. Focus all of your energy on the Now, the right here, doing this. Pull your distracted mind into the moment and hold it fast, do not let it get away from you. This is so powerful.

We are absolutely inundated with distractions; from the media and social media to texting and phoning and checking this and that. We may not realize that we aren’t putting all of our energy where is desperately needs to go. We are so scattered, having to answer various messaged, read up on the latest headlines, get to the next level on a video game, order whatever online, check up on our status or online dating… the list is quite literally endless. So what’s left over when we go into creation and manifestation mode? Where does the monkey mind lead us? Or is it a circus of monkeys up there?

This is where meditation,  yoga, and getting our in nature really come in really handy… learning to bring our focus back to our breath, emptying the mind, becoming the observer rather than the reactor.

We must put all of our energy into the task at hand. We must create with Love, with intention, with consideration. We must harness the power of all of our magic and funnel it into our manifestation. Pure and simple.

That is how you recreate your world.

Three Of Abundance: “Your passions will lead you to your Divine life purpose. Do what you love, and have confidence in your talent. Learn everything there is to know about your interests by taking classes, getting a mentor, or teaming up with like minded people. Allow your creativity to soar!”

“This is the card of great skill, talent, and craftsmanship. Within you is the ability to create amazing works if only you follow your passions and let your heart lead you. Do what you love! Learn everything there is to know on the topic. Take seminars, get training from a wonderful mentor, or complete a degree from a university or trade school. The key point here is that you do something that makes you happy.

It can be very emotionally rewarding to work with others. Teamwork and commitment to a project you believe in brings the recognition and compensation you are seeking.

Additional Meanings Of This Card: Financial rewards for doing what you love to do. Making a satisfying living in a creative profession. Confidence in your talent. Teaching others a skill. Winning an award for your work.”*

Here we are reminded again that the key to the manifestation of the life of our dreams lies in our passion. Our life purpose is also linked to this passion and we will open doors to opportunity when we are doing what we love to do.

When we are doing what we love, everything changes. Time stands still. Our confidence is increased. We raise our vibration through our positive and uplifted emotions. We open our hearts. Our chakras become aligned. We open to the Divine. We attract more of what we love. A perfect cycle.

If you are hesitant, find others who love to do what you love. Surround yourself with a non-competitive (unless you thrive on competition) group of like minded Souls who will help to open you up to the numerous possibilities available to you. Find a teacher or mentor who can increase your awareness, skill set and knowledge of your interests. Allow yourself to experiment without judgement, have fun. When we are too hard on ourselves we shut down the creative process!

Get out of your comfort zone! Turn off the TV and get out there and do something! It is way too easy these days to live vicariously through others, that is what reality television shows are created for, to give us the sense that we are doing more than we really are! When we stop being the spectator and start doing the activity, we stretch our brains, building new neural pathways and opening up our minds to new levels of awareness. This is expansion. You have to live it, first hand.

Take one step today towards your passion. Only you know what makes your heart beat faster. Only you know what you have a special knack for. Only you know when time stands still for you. Take action towards that and the Universe will meet you in ways beyond your wildest dreams.

Take a leap of faith, even if it looks like a baby step today.
