Eight of Fire

Published May 1, 2017 by Dee ~ Archangel Oracle

Eight of Fire, from the Dreams Of Gaia Oracle Card deck, by Ravynne Phelan

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Eight of Fire, from the Dreams Of Gaia Oracle Card deck, by Ravynne Phelan

Eight of Fire: “Keywords: Action, Change, Transformation, Transmutation, Rebirth, Freedom, Renewed Purpose, Joy.”

Key Phrases: “Transformation through action, Change on a Physical Level, It is time to Act, Give Something a New Purpose, Transmute Negative Energy, A Renewed Sense of Purpose, Don’t be Lazy, Inaction May Yield Unwelcome Changes”

Card Meaning: “The Eight of Fire symbolizes transformation through action – change on a physical level that brings freedom and joy. Is it time to start a new job or quit one? Is it time to move house because the one you are living in restricts and hampers you?

Or is it time to lose a little bit of weight, and increase your mobility and physical fitness? Is it time to set yourself free of unnecessary weight, whether it be physical, emotional, or psychological, so that you can move through life with more ease?

If you need to make real changes in your life, now is the time to do it. No more thinking, no more planning, and no more dreaming. Now is the time to get up off the couch, to act, and transform yourself or your life, or to take an idea, a possession – something in your life or space – and repurpose or transform it.

It may be something as simple as painting a room, making it brighter and lighter. Maybe it is time to clean house from one end to the other, banishing dust and cobwebs, getting rid of all that serves no purpose or is broken and unused. Regardless, this is a time of action and change, and it is a change that, once experienced, will bring you a sense of freedom… of weight lifted. You will feel reborn, and will face the future with a renewed sense of purpose.

Regardless of what, it is time to transmute one state of being into another. It is time to act and to enjoy.”

Potential Blockage: “Do not halt your own progress or hamper your growth, at this time – even if you may feel a bit ‘lazy’ or even apathetic. be your own advocate, rather than your own enemy, and challenge yourself if you find yourself unwilling to act. The Eight of Fire reversed speaks to us when we are experiencing either a lazy mind or body, and it serves as a reminder that there may well be consequences if necessary changes are not made – and that those consequences will be of our own making.

If you have become a perpetual planner, who never follows through, or if you always promise, and then fail to deliver, or even if you just feel it is all too much like hard work, the Eight of Fire reversed appears to warn that inaction is also a choice – and one that can have dire consequences. Now is the time to get up and move, to avoid having your life transformed in a manner that is not to your liking.”*

~by Ravynne Phelan

Nothing symbolizes transformation and elevation better than the Phoenix. The fire burns away the old, the unnecessary and makes way for the new. Transmutation of energies, the dissolution of one and a merging into another… complete death and rebirth. The cycle is complete.

What if all that we brought forth in the last few months, all the old, heavy and dense energy, all the pain and trauma, is all being purged now into the fire? What if this is it? The ritual burning of the old you, the old ways, all that is consumed by the fire.

And rising up from the ashes is a brand new version of you. A bolder, wiser, stronger and more capable You? One who is more intuitive, and more in tune with what is going on around you. One who is able to manifest exactly what you desire. One who no longer seeks the counsel or advice of another, but trusts themselves completely. One who knows that anything is possible if you take action to create it.

One who slams all the old doors shut and moves forward fearlessly.

One who takes the opportunities presented without agonizing over them first.

One who gives and receives love with a heart wide open.

What else is possible?

Set your intention, right now, for the coming month. What will you create? Feel free to share it on my Facebook page under this post! Put it out there to the Universe as your first action step.

Much Love

Personal Transformation

Personal Transformation, from the Whispers Of Lord Ganesha, by Angela Hartfield, artwork by Ekaterina Golovanova

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Personal Transformation, from the Whispers Of Lord Ganesha, by Angela Hartfield, artwork by Ekaterina Golovanova

Personal Transformation: “Your soul is assisting you with creating changes to align you with your life’s purpose.”

“Ganesha is pointing to the Heavens and encouraging you to be open to new ideas and the growth of your spirit. Listen to the still small voice within.

You may have been feeling a strong desire to obtain or experience again a sense of meaning, inspiration, or purpose in your life. This is likely a time in which you are making some significant adjustments in your life. These adjustments are helping you in the process of changing yourself from the old you to the new you, and you will soon benefit from a fresh perspective on life. You are in a great place now for honouring the person who you truly are or want to be, rather than simply following a routine that has little meaning to you. This is a profound spiritual journey that you are experiencing which brings greater meaning and purpose into your life. This will renew your inner energy.

Eliminate everything in your life that is not essential to your transformation. Realize that some of your activities may be in place simply to act as buffers or distractions from what is truly important. Allow the changes that are taking place and trust that a period of greater calm and stability will follow. Ganesha is calling you to your destiny. Your calls for guidance have not gone unnoticed and you will ultimately find what you are yearning for.”*

~ By Angela Hartfield

As  you come into alignment with your true authentic self, you will find that your life quite literally changes around you. This is absolute proof and confirmation that what happens first within us is reflected in the outside world. When we decide not to hide who we truly are; we finally align with all of our hopes and dreams and aspirations. Limiting belief systems come crashing down and we realize that doors have opened for us with grace and ease.

We no longer need to struggle internally with who we are and what our hearts whisper to us. We can stand in our truth and allow others to do the same. We no longer judge ourselves harshly, and in turn we find we are more accepting of others. We can step fully into the art of “allowing” and feel joy for others when they follow their dreams, rather than feeling we need to envy or control them.

This is the ultimate freedom! Not having to worry about what everyone else is doing, or how what we are doing will be seen by others. Gaining the approval of others is no longer important as we create the lives that bring us joy. All we must focus on is that all outcomes are for the Highest Good Of All. We know in our hearts that as we set out on our life’s path, it will be for the benefit of the Collective All, and this will become apparent as we hold space for the magic of joy, peace, love and light in our hearts.

You are transforming before your very eyes. Everything is changing. You are changing, your world is changing. Your spirit is growing.

And it is all so beautiful to behold.

Letting Go

Letting Go, from the Guardian Angel Tarot Card deck, by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D and Radleigh Valentine

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Letting Go, from the Guardian Angel Tarot Card deck, by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D and Radleigh Valentine

Letting Go: “Releasing the past can seem like a challenge, but it can also be liberating. Your angels will help you let go so that you can fly higher than ever before. Endings always herald new beginnings. Choose to allow this situation to lead you to a more joyful life. Change your life by changing your thoughts!”

“It can be very liberating to leave the past behind. So often we hold on too long. We look backwards at the past when we should be looking at the present or planning for the future.

Your guardian angel brought this card to you today to say, “Let go, and I will walk with you and help you to spread your wings so that you may fly higher than ever before!” While this card often signals endings, it leads the way to new beginnings. It asks you to stop resisting the necessary change that will make you a more alive and fully vibrant human angel here on Earth. When experiences no longer serve your higher good, it is time to ‘leg go and let God.”

Additional Meaning For The Letting Go Card: “Change your thoughts and change your life. An anticipated ending. Transformation. Reincarnation. Resurrection. Freedom.”*

~ By Doreen Virtue, Ph.D and Radleigh Valentine

If you were not sure if yesterdays message was for you, here is your confirmation: Yesterdays message was for you.

I know it’s hard and I know it’s scary, believe me, I get it. Really, I do. I have had so much change in my life over the last year I can’t even keep track of it all. The dust is still settling. I do feel sorry for myself now and then, even though I just want to be spiritual and uplifted all the damn time! I get it!

But all in all, I know that things are going to get better, they already are. I know that there are amazing things manifesting for me as I type this, I can feel it with every ounce of my being. I also know that things take time because I had a lot of healing to do, and I am still doing it. Day by day it gets better. I get stronger. I feel more capable; less scared to death! I know that the Universe provides for me because I have very clear evidence of it every single day. And I try to be grateful for it every single day.

I had to take that first big, huge, scary step. And so can you. First it is a step away. The rest of the steps are towards something brand new. Once you get past that first on you are on your way. Even baby steps count.

Your thoughts are everything right now. Supercharged by your feelings and emotions. What you put out there is exactly what you will create.

Make it spectacular.

Cernunnos

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Cernunnos, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco and Jimmy Manton

Cernunnos: “Shape Shifting”

“Transition and change are flowing through you. Relax and know that you have the power to be what you want to be!”

“While most people think of Cernunnos as a god of the Celts, the truth is, this energy is far, far older. Prehistoric man covered himself with the skins, hair, feathers, and bones of the animals he hunted, and he danced around his fire. As the shadows played against the cave walls, man changed into the very animals he targeted.

Shape shifting is a way of gathering power and information. This is one of the earliest principles of magic: like attracts like. If  you want to catch a stag, be a stag in the ritual dance. Feel the stag, think like the stag, be one with the stag, and then you can better connect with the stag should you need to hunt it. By honoring this father hunter, the horned one, ancient peoples felt they would be better fed and better prepared – and so, more successful.

Cernunnos is often depicted as half human and half stag, although sometimes he is simply depicted as a man with  glorious set of antlers that seem to pierce the sky. His energy is vital, flowing, fertile, and connecting.

Today he is a symbol of the purest masculine energy, untainted and fully connected with his strength and wildness. For this reason, he is extremely popular with the modern pagan and witchcraft communities and is a patron of those who work on facilitating change as environmental activists. You can call upon his shape shifting energy when you wish to transition from one identity to another or to shift back into your most authentic self. If you feel like you have changed recently in ways that do not feel right to you or in ways that feel untrue to your nature, it is time to shift back with Cernunnos.

Shadow Side: “The wilderness demands respect. Many survival shows demonstrate how to conquer nature rather than work with and enrich the environment for the greatest good. If you only use the gifts of the earth, sky and sea for sport, without ever giving back to those same elements, you may need to rethink your attitude.

A balanced masculine nature is one of deep protective connection with the earth and its animals, rather than dominion over them. Today’s hunters could do well to follow a more honorable path than the cold process of taking life. Think also how Cernunnos would view the common practices of factory farming, for example, and reassess what you eat.

Symbols: “Antlers, stag, snake, trees”

Invocation: “Go outside, preferably somewhere green, even overgrown. Take off your shoes. Lie down or stand upon the earth. Now imagine growing roots from your bodyinto the earth and picture Cernunnos, powerful and pure, standing with you.

Say:
In the center of all things is you, Cernunnos,
Great god of the earth, of the sky, of the air,
Of the forest, of things green and wet and wild!
Connect me to who I am.
Teach me how to delve down, like the roots of a tree into
the soft earth,
And find the center myself.
Connect me to what I am to be,
Mentor me to shift my shape
Easily, quickly, certainly.
Balance me,
Give me depth, give me lightness.
Guide me to my true home;
Grow me into my best self.
May I honor you in word and deed.
May it begin from here!”*

~ By Stacey Demarco

The Divine Feminine is rising, and the Divine Masculine is coming forward to meet Her. Balance. Equality. Justice. Deep, divine connection. We are both powerful in our own rights. We both have something profoundly sacred to offer. What has been tainted will be purified. What has been unbalanced for far too long will come back into alignment. It will take work on both sides, leveling the scales so that we can again see eye to eye. In these times we must work together. We must use our power wisely.

Together we are so much more powerful. Twin flames are reuniting to create much needed change through deep healing of old wounds, those on a personal and also on the collective level. When we see ourselves as Divine, and see the magic in the other half, the healing begins. Work from the inside out, and open your hearts wide. Shift from the old into the new and meet your partner as a reflection of your own true divine self.

Heal and be healed.

Grandmother Ensures Safe Crossing

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Grandmother Ensures Safe Crossing, from the Wild Kuan Yin Oracle Card deck, by Alana Fairchild, artwork by Wang Yiguang

“You have a journey ahead of you. There is a particular path that you are meant to take, so that you shall be in the right place at the right time, to encounter the experiences that you are meant to have and the people that you are meant to meet. This journey will lead you across the water, far away from what you have known. To bear the crossing of the water, you must lose sight of the shore. It is part of your destiny, your sacred life path, to take this journey. So although you may feel excitement or fear, hope or uncertainty about whether you are up to the task, know that it is meant for you and Grandmother shall watch over you. She shall give you means for the journey and ensure that the crossing of the water is safely undertaken. Be light of heart, beloved, even as you may mourn what is left behind, for this journey is divinely blessed and will bring great success.”

“There are times in life when we must cross the water if we are to grow rather than wither and retract. To grow requires courage but offers the reward of radiance and fulfillment beyond what we have experienced. To cross the water implies more than simply taking a trip, it refers to a more life-changing experience of committing to and taking a journey. A journey is not only an external experience, it is an internal adventure too. Whilst a trip is interesting perhaps and gives us some nice experiences but fundamentally leaves us the same person upon return, a journey changes us on the inside. A journey is as much, if not more so, about the process of travel itself. The internal growth that comes through taking a journey – a journey that leads us beyond what we have known and asks us to ‘cross the water’ into new territory – is what marks it as a divine adventure.

Such an adventure offers us opportunities to mature – to open our minds, to become wiser, more tolerant, more curious and less certain of how life should be. We can experience ourselves in different ways. It can be uncomfortable but exciting, certainly it will involve venturing into the unknown. We may have to leave behind support systems in many senses and become more reliant upon ourselves and the inner guidance of our heart. When a journey is meant to be, however, the Divine Mother will provide the necessary tour guide or person with greater experience to help you along your journey. If you have also drawn the oracle of Sacred Sherpa Guides you Beyond, or feel intuitively the need to read the message and complete the healing process for that card, then a significant aspect of this journey will be trusting in an experienced guide to help you through your journey. This guide may be an actual person, or it may be information as well as spiritual protection, that comes to you as needed. Even if you do not feel drawn to that card, this oracle of Grandmother Ensures Safe Crossing confirms that whatever hep or divine protection you need is there for you. It may just be that you experience it as a sense of invisible but palpable protection or ‘luck’ and ‘good timing’ to help you throughout your travels.

The crossing of water meant for you at this time – or imminently – may be in a physical sense. Opportunities to travel can arise where you choose to leave the home you have known to literally go venturing overseas.

There are also other profound ways to cross the water that may or may not accompany a physical relocation. These crossings of the water are where we leave behind a state of being or consciousness in favour of another. That may include releasing a sense of self, of identity, of certainty about ourselves or the world, to bravely venture towards an as-yet-unknown destiny. We will have little idea as to what we are doing or where we are headed at times. We will likely feel lost and out of place, sometimes not really feeling like we belong anywhere in particular nor having really settled and found our home or place in the world. Even in our place of birth we may feel we are a stranger passing through. Having such experiences is a sign that a journey across the water is taking place, symbolic and internal, but just as real.

The oracle of Grandmother Ensures Safe Crossing indicates that not only are you on the journey but you must keep looking. You have somewhere to go, a home to find, but you have not quite found it yet. there is something more for you to discover about yourself and your place in the world. There is a part of you that understands this. Perhaps you have fought it, tried to fit in with the ways of those around you, yet you are urged to remain true to the yearnings of your soul and continue your adventures. Do not imagine that where you currently find yourself is to be your resting place. There is more for you in your life, further adventure awaits you.

There will be a sense that every life lesson you have struggled through and mastered will have bearing and offer support to navigate the journey you are taking now or will soon embark upon. The emotional component of your journey may include grief and feelings of insecurity as you let go of the familiar. The gift tantalizingly offered as the treasure you seek on your adventure will inspire you to move beyond what has been comfortable, to take a risk for the mere possibility that you could obtain your heart’s deepest desires and live a life you truly know you were created to live.

This particular journey and the discontent or curiosity about ‘something more’ that triggers its beginning is meant to be. Reward will certainly come; whether it is the reward you imagine now or one even more wonderful and miraculous than you can currently fathom, that can only be determined in time and only realized through the experience. There are no guarantees given as to how your journey will unfold, just that you have had all the preparation you need, even if you doubt your readiness and that the ancient wisdom of the Divine Mother in the form of Grandmother will protect you. When the time is upon you, when you feel the stirring of discontent or the call of the wild to grow and expand, you are best to answer with a huge, heartfelt YES!

The sanctuary, guidance and protection of the Hold Grandmother is with you to ensure the success of your journey. Grandmother watches over the weaving of past, present and future. She understands that what happens now is the planting and fertilizing of the soul seed which will come to blossom more fully in accordance with your divine life purpose. She will nudge you when you need to be nudged, comfort you when you become uncertain, and provide the means for you to take step after step towards your destination. She is the representative of the Holy Mother. She will ensure safe passage, no matter how arduous, challenging or downright intimidating the prospect of the journey of transformation may seem. Grandmother lives within your heart as wisdom and has the power to attract whatever is needed to assist you on your journey. Believe in the journey, beloved wild child, and in your ability to see the steps before you and take them. Reaching your destination will then happen of its own accord, and by the time you get there the journey will have matured you to be absolutely ready to receive your fulfilling grace.

This oracle comes with a particular message, a guarantee of supreme success in a venture you are considering. It will as you to grow, but the success is there for you if you are willing to take the journey.

If you have been considering a move or profound life change then this oracle comes as confirmation that not only are you meant to be taking that journey, but that the Divine will ensure protection and success. Life changes here could be those of career, religious or spiritual matters, life style or even sexual orientation. It could be any choice that feels as though it will take you more truthfully into your essence, even whilst in the process causing some upheaval for others as well.

Remember to complete the following healing process. Surrender your control around how the journey unfolds and where it leads you. Start with your commitment to take the journey and then trust your heart to lead you each step of the way.”

Healing Process: “Say this prayer. If you are already ‘on your journey’ and times are challenging, you may like to say it each morning and night.

‘Kuan Yin, who loves me without condition, Holy Grandmother, who cares for my soul with merciful grace, watch over me, protect me, guide me on all levels of my being in all possible ways. Help me take the journey before me now with courage and wisdom. Give me clear signs to follow and help me to realize the strength I have within me to rise to any challenge. Help me find the courage within to explore beyond what I have known, and to feel and trust in the guiding wisdom and power of my own heart. Through your blessing, my supreme success is ensured. Thank you for your gracious blessings. I receive with an open heart and willing mind. Through my own free will, so be it.’

Once you have said the prayer, you have finished your healing process.”*

~ By Alana Fairchild

This journey is both physical and metaphorical. As you commit to embarking on your Spiritual Quest, assistance comes in many forms. The journey you are about to commence will be one of many twists and turns. It will change you. Transform you. It will be life changing in ways you cannot yet comprehend, or even imagine. It will stretch you and expand you beyond your comfort zones in many areas. It will break down barriers and it will lead from Earth to Stars.

Yet there is so much comfort here. Divine Grandmother soothes your doubts and fears; she nourishes your Soul and prepares you for the challenges ahead. Her great wisdom permeates your Soul, and you are held fast in her protective embrace. You feel the Oneness in All; your deep connection to her. Although you have no idea now of how this journey will end, you know that she will be with you each and every step of the way.

Connect to the elements now, for they are your allies. Honour them by creating a sacred altar. Add something special to you as an offering to Divine Grandmother, Spider Goddess, Old Woman, Crone. Know that her magic is woven of the Light and will always catch you when you feel yourself fall.

Change is all around us now. Be it as deeply as you can.

Dive right in.

Persephone: “Cycles”

“It is time for a change, and it will be positive. Respect your own natural cycles. Be mindful of seasonal changes and go with the flow taking these into account in your diet and activity level.”

“The god Zeus and his brother Hades, god of the underworld, were discussing Hades’s marriage. It seemed that the Hades, eligible in most respects, wanted a queen for himself. Persephone was the beautiful daughter of Zeus and Demeter – the goddess of agriculture – and seemed a fine choice. Zeus promised the hand of Persephone to Hades, and both men were pleased. Unfortunately, Zeus forgot his promise and neglected to inform any of the women! Hades became impatient waiting and decided to take Persephone.

One bright day, as Persephone was enjoying the sunshine outdoors with her handmaidens, she came upon a particularly stunning narcissus flower. As she picked it, she heard a great rumbling. Hades arose from the ground and seized her. Persephone struggled, but Hades overpowered her and took her down to the underworld.

Only the goddess Hekate and the sun god Helios heart her screams. Hekate told Demeter what she had heard. Being a devoted and loving mother, Demeter frantically searched for her daughter but to no avail. As she could think of nothing else besides her daughter, she began to neglect her role of grain giver and earth mother, and so the fields began to die.

Soon the people began to starve, and they cried to Zeus to save them. Helios told Demeter of Hade’s act, and Zeus was forced to demand that Hades return Persephone.

In the underworld, meanwhile, Persephone missed the world above but had begun to like Hades a little, so when he kindly offered her a pomegranate to eat, she accepted it. She had consumed six seeds of the glossy, ruby-red fruit when Zeus’s demand reached them. According to the Fates, if food or drink is consumed in the underworld, one must remain there, so it seemed Persephone would have to stay in the world of shadows. Zeus, however, came up with a compromise: Persephone would spend six months with Hades and six months above with Demeter.

As Persephone leaves the darkness, the goddess Hekate meets her, flaming torches in hand, and guides her back to the blue sky and her mother. Demeter, in her joy, resumes her work with the fields. Life again appears on earth. However, every six months, when Persephone returns to Hades, Demeter grieves and leaves the world barren.

This is a story of cycles, of how things naturally progress and change. In ancient Greece, when a young woman was married, she left home and joined the family of her husband. Her parents and siblings were both sad and happy and the bride often went through a period of adjustment. Although she lost her identity and freedom as a maiden, the bride became queen of her new home.

This story also illustrates how the seasons change, how the earth and its fruits die in the winter only to be reborn in the spring, flourish in the summer and be harvested in the autumn. Change and transition is everywhere, and constant. The natural cycles are something to be mindful of, connect with, and enjoy if we are to gain the most from our year.

Should the lovely Persephone grace your life, it is to remind you that cycles are natural. There are times to feel introverted and extroverted, energetic and restful, happy and sad – none of these is better than the other. There was a time you were a baby, a time you were a child, a time you will grow older – each with its own joys and challenges. Take the time to connect with your own personal cycles and you can expect to reap many benefits, particularly physical ones. Do not expect yourself to be happy just because others are, or ready for the same steps at the same time. Let your body and mind experience your life naturally and without expectation based on someone else’s cycles. Pressuring yourself or others to want the same things at the same time isn’t healthy or respectful of your true self.”

If This Card Comes To You As Challenger: “Resisting natural growth or cycles is not useful to developing a smooth and happy life. It is a natural part of life to grow up and to transform in our minds and bodies, and sometimes that can be a scary process. Additionally, there may be times when we do not want to accept the changes that need to be made, even if they are inevitable, and we may be angry and upset about them. Sometimes we face changes to our family situations, where we live, our relationships, or our schools that we do not like and cannot control, yet we must adapt to them the best way possible. We can learn resilience and be creative with our solutions.”

Symbolism: “Pomegranate, crown, robed woman carrying a sheath of wheat, spring, seeds, flowers”*

~by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

It’s natural to go through a grieving process when you have to give something up to make space for something new. Honour this time. Honour your feelings, let them flow through you, this is part of your journey into authenticity. You can’t stuff your emotions anymore and expect it not to have a lasting effect on your body, mind and spirit. You cannot pretend any longer that you don’t care, you don’t get hurt or you aren’t worth more than this. You are worth much more. But you have to accept the lesson first.

What, or who, do you need to release in order to move forward. And if you have been courageous enough to do this, give yourself time to process it. Heal. It takes a little time, it is a natural cycle. Do not let the fear of feeling the emotions allow you to refuse to experience them in all they have to offer you. Feel into it. Then bless and release with gratitude for the lesson learned. This is only a small part of something so much better you will not believe it. Until you make space for it and invite it in. Open mind and open heart.

Anything is possible now as you step into a brand new cycle in your life. There has been a cycle from 2008 to now that has come to an end. Bless, release and welcome in the new with open arms and open mind. This is going to be the beginning of something very special.

Persephone’s message to us is that sometimes we have to delve right into the darkness in order to find the light.

Two Of Pentacles

Two Of Pentacles, from the Tarot Apokalypsis Oracle, by Erik C. Dunne and Kim Huggens

Two Of Pentacles, from the Tarot Apokalypsis Oracle, by Erik C. Dunne and Kim Huggens

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Two Of Pentacles, from the Tarot Apokalypsis Oracle, by Erik C. Dunne and Kim Huggens

Two Of Pentacles: “The universe changes on a grand scale as befitting its cosmic design: Change is its mother; flux its father; you are its child. As a product of the ebb and flow of the tidal heavens, it is your charge to enact change upon the earth and to know the careful dance of balance in order to maintain your center. Though you may be buffeted by life’s tempestuous waves, know that beneath your feet is the very foundation of the world. I teach you the mystery of managing change in the realm of earth, the gift by which you may make the best of this abode of beauty and ugliness. I speak to you in polarities and opposites, in duality and complement, for in the journey between each you come to know the balance of the scales. Yet listen well: balance is not equality; rather, it is found in the gentle shifting of weight from one side of the other, continually, and it is in the unevenness of balance that the world is recreated.”

Mystery: “Dancing on the foundations of change is necessary once we’ve begun manifesting our desires. We’ve met change before, writ large in the world in the Wheel, but here we find it on an everyday level. Here are the ups and downs of daily life, the balance that must be found and maintained in order to manage our mundane world and the fine line between failure and success. Here also is the intricate relationship between our higher self and lower needs, between the divine and mundane in our lives and between our duties and our hopes.

The card image shows a dancer performing a classical Cambodian dance. She wears the traditional headdress of the Robam Preah Reach Trop (“Apsara Dance”) and balances carefully on a yoni-lingam carving. The waters of one of ancient Khmer’s man-made lakes are rough, the small boats riding the waves. Around her flit silver dragonflies, emblems of change. There are many aspects of the card image that symbolize the interaction between polarities and the process of change that is created through this interaction. The focus, however, is on the dancer, as the card’s focus is on the human place within this continual fluctuation and landscape of change. The golden pentacles balanced in the dancer’s hands are facing point-upwards (her right hand) and point-downwards (her left hand), indicating the exchange between the divine and the mundane that takes place on a daily basis. Around these pentacles, in white light, the shape of infinite flux, suggesting that the polarities of divine and mundane, up and down, can be swapped. Indeed, the dancer’s headdress indicates that she, a human, is standing in for a divine being. During the Robam Preah Reach Trop, female figures become Asparas, beautiful, nymph-like divine female figures that can be found frequently on carvings from ancient Cambodian temples.385

The man-made lake – or reservoir – is representative of the polarity between man and nature, here united in an attempt to harness and tame the forces of nature. Archaeologists found a copper pipe on an artificial island in the center of the Yasodharatataka reservoir, built in the 9th century. It is surmised that the king would regularly visit and use the pipe to measure water levels to ascertain whether rice planting could begin. 386 The Two Of Pentacles represents ways in which we try to make the best of all the changes that happen around us, seeking ways to not be negatively affected by them. Like the boats in the card image, we must ride the waves of life and allow ourselves to be carried by change: if we make ourselves rigid and unmoving, we will be drowned.

The yoni-lingam upom which the dancer balances is a sacred representation of Shiva – masculine creative energy – and Shakti – feminine creative energy. These cosmic forces create and perpetuate the cycles of change and generation in the world. The union of lingam and yoni represents the “indivisible two-in-oneness of male and female, the passive space and active time from which all life originates”. 387 In Taoist philosophy, this force is expressed as the yin-yang, which emphasizes that the seed of one polarity is present in its opposite polarity. Thus, the dancer who balances carefully on the yoni-lingam is balancing on the fundamental force of change in the world, on that which contains the seeds of flux. In the same way, we carefully balance our everyday lives in a sea of change, making sense and order in the best way we can of an otherwise chaotic, unpredictable world.”

Revelation: “Constant shifting and flux; small changes in everyday life; maintaining order in a chaotic situation; balance; juggling many aspects of daily life; the requirements of the everyday world all seeking attention; budgeting; time-keeping.”*

There is much needed change coming into your life now… are you receptive to the opportunity that it is bringing you? This is a positive change, even if it feels like it is stretching you beyond your comfort zone. It could be in any area of your life, but you will find that it actually affects many aspects of your life once you fully commit to accepting it.

Do not struggle to hold on to the old, for with this shift comes what you have been wishing for, dreaming about and desiring to manifest. Go with the flow. Conserve your energy. There is no need to swim upstream when you can find bliss in allowing the river to take you exactly where you need to go. Have faith, open your heart and jump right in.

There is a balance here also between the polar energies; the Divine Masculine and the Divine Feminine meeting and coming into balance. This can be in regards to love, relationships, power, or any other aspect of your life that has been previously out of balance. As harmony is restored, acceptance and love become the dominant forces, rather than the push and pull of fear and lack. Find these energies within yourself and you will find them all around you.

Step into the change. Transform yourself and transform the world around you.

Namaste
