Thor: “Action”

“The time has now passed for waiting and inertia. Real action is necessary. Trust that you are protected and supported while you move forward.”

“Most people have heard of or are familiar with the Norse god Thor and his mighty hammer. Highlighted against a stormy sky, thunder crashing from his hammer, wearing a horned Viking helmet over his flowing locks, Thor is the epitome of masculine vigor and force.

The god Thor was born of the earth goddess Jord and the supreme father god Odin, and is considered the strongest of all the Norse immortals, the Aesir. His mythology contains many stories of his exploits and his bravery, including battles with great serpents. A protector of humans, loved for his creative powers, he is nevertheless known for his hot blooded temper.

Thor captains a chariot pulled by two savage, giant goats that galloped noisily across the sky, causing the sound of thunder. Thor’s hammer, Mjollnir, famous for its lethal power, became the symbol of defiance worn by those loyal to the old ways when Christianity began its spread across Scandinavia.

We can call upon Thor when we need some real action. He is a brilliant rut buster, someone who will forcefully make action happen! If we feel inertia, tiredness, or frustration that things are not happening how we want, call upon Thor and his mighty hammer to smash a way through. Getting caught in a cycle of negative thought or behavior often needs forceful action, as we get comfortable with our lives, even when they are unhealthy. Thor is protective of his own, so we can feel safe knowing that his might will shield us as we move forward into the unknown.

Thor is also a poet, not just an action man, so you can take a more sensitive rout, even if you are the masculine type. Follow Thor’s lead and be the best of both worlds!”

Shadow Side: “Sometimes, taking forceful action is not the most prudent path. Thor himself found this route did not always guarantee the best outcome. Coming into a sensitive situation ready for a fight – or even just a negative reaction – may end badly for all. Ask questions and be aware o when a situation needs a gentler approach and when force is actually a good instrument.

The male energy tends to be one of action, but too much action can also deplete one’s energy and vitality. Action must be balanced with rest and rejuvenation.”*

Notice that this card is about strength, power and action, but it also contains a note of balance and mindfulness. Yes, we have access to the Divine Masculine principle of creative action; breaking through obstacles, out of ruts and stagnancy. It is also a breaking out of thought forms; those limiting belief systems that have been holding us back.

It is not, however, brash aggression or blundering forward mindlessly. It is not storming over others to get what we want. These are old ways. The energy we are calling upon now is balanced – the warrior and the poet. This gives us access to the forces of creative action, powerful forward momentum and manifestation. It requires laser focus, steadfast intention and a good dose of imagination. Take a moment to feel into this energy, poetry in motion.

And after all, who couldn’t use a little Thor in their lives!

Amaterasu: “Self-Esteem”

“You are enough. Build your self-esteem from the inside out. It is your turn to shine. Be the sunshine in your own life!”
Amaterasu is the sun goddess of the Shinto Faith. She is one of the most loved of the Japanese deities and there are many myths surrounding her.

Amaterasu lives a peaceful life in harmony wit the workings of nature, shining brightly among her herd of horses and gardens full of silk worms for her weaving. However, her brother Susano’o is much more disruptive and chaotic.

In some versions of the story, Susano’o became jealous of his sister and slaughtered her horses and her silk worms. When Amaterasu came upon such a gruesome and shocking scene, she felt so overcome with grief and hopelessness that she retreated into a cave. This left the earth with no life-giving sun, and all grew cold and dead. The earthly plane became a haven for evil spirits, and people began to die from lack of food.

The other gods and the humans waited outside Amaterasu’s cave and tried everything to get her to come out again. She refused, never wishing to show her face again. As things grew desperate, Uzume, Amaterasu’s sister, had an idea. She began to dance and sing loudly and comically. The brought a roar of approval from the assembled crowd, and their laughter rang across the world.

Amaterasu became curious, listening to these lively, happy sounds, and decided to peek out of her cave. Uzume was prepared and had placed a mirror just outside the cave. When the bright light of dawn that was Amaterasu’s energy hit the mirror, the goddess was bedazzled by her own reflection, and Uzume was able to pull her out of the cave. The world again became a better place by her presence, and Amaterasu understood her true worth.

Call upon Amaterasu when you are feeling low in self-esteem and when you feel like you are not enough. Amaterasu’s very name means ‘to shine in heaven,” and this is what this goddess encourages us to do – let our own light shine. First, we have to understand ourselves a little better and know how truly important we are – to those around us and to the world at large. Without building true self-esteem from the inside out, creating a true love of ourselves, we are limited in what we do.

The effects of low self-esteem can permeate our lives easily! When we don’t love ourselves or when we only rely on others for our live, it is difficult to stay balanced, keep our boundaries, have a healthy body image, be successful, and simply enjoy our lives to the fullest. We see the effects particularly when we shy away from taking positive risks and growing. Having positive self-esteem means we shine, and that it evident for all to see.”

Shadow Side: “If our strong, healthy self-esteem tips over into arrogance or narcissism, it is not true balance. In this world full of celebrities who are noting but pretty faces, who are famous just for being famous, it is not surprising that many people believe that self-esteem and self-worth come form the outside in, from the admiration of others. Take the admiring people away, and if there is no solid core of self-worth, there is little left.”

There is a saying “whatever you believe yourself capable of, you are correct” basically, whether you believe you can attain your goals, or whether you believe that you will never attain them, you are correct. What you expect is exactly what you will receive. If you believe nothing good will come of a situation, you are probably right. If you believe that you are too old to learn something new, or too stuck to change, you are right about that too.

The image of the cave is a metaphor for our belief systems and our self-imposed limitations. Imagine the cave walls to be what you have set as your perception of what you are capable of, or worthy of receiving. The cave is stone, the walls are thick, the ceiling is so low you can barely stand up to your full height. The cave is stifling, it’s hard to move, to breathe. Yet there you are, feeling quite safe if not a little restless in your cave. The exit is right there, but it is scary to contemplate what lies beyond the perceived safety of your protective cave.

But what is the cave is actually more of a prison than a protection? What if instead of keeping you safe, it is actually holding you back from your true potential? What if it is keeping the love of your life at bay? The career of your dreams beyond the walls? Everything you dream of and more, beyond those rock solid walls of belief systems?

It’s time to step out of the cave into the bright sun. Into the expansiveness beyond the cave.

Into your destiny.

Jade Emperor: “Organization”

“Streamlining, reordering and decluttering will clear the way to a flow of natural, effortless action”

“The Jade Emperor – or the Heavenly Grandfather, as he is also known – is one of the most beloved and most courted of the Chinese Taoist gods because of his benevolent protection and supreme organizing ability.

As a young deity, the Jade Emperor wandered the earth, humbly helping humans make sense of the world. He taught them how to manage their settlements and their sorrows. To protect the humans, he also defeated the negative energies referred to as demons. Although he possesses a loving energy more than that of a fighter, there are many accounts of the Jade Emperor retreating back to himself to gather his energy and strength in order to have the knowledge and power needed to conquer significant evil energies. It is because of these deeds that he eventually became the administrator of the immortals, the Heavenly Ruler.

Under his leadership are assistants who ensure his Wu way (natural effortless action) is adhered to. These assistants are ordered according to departments, with different gods as the head of each department, but all take authority from the Jade Emperor.

Should theĀ  Jade Emperor enter your realm, it may be time to reorganize, rearrange, and reorder some part of your life. Planning is a key part of getting your desires met. Do not view it as a chore but as something exciting – it leads you to where you most wish to be. Do you need to plan your schedule more effectively? Do you have too many assignments to write, or are your extracurricular activities keeping you so busy you feel hectic? If you have a job, is it difficult to find the time to do everything? Can you not decide what path you want to take because too many seem to be clamoring for attention Writing things out, planning your time, and organizing your thoughts and actions will help, and the Jade Emperor can assist you with this.

Having a clear and workable environment enables you to achieve much more in less time as well. Creating some simple systems can increase your flow of positive energies, such as prosperity and creativity. Take this opportunity to streamline your life.”

Shadow Side: “You can be too structured, which can limit your creativity and your ability to be spontaneous. The shadow side here is having too much order in your life, too much rigidity that you set for yourself and ensure you are being healthily lenient with yourself when you can. Balance is key. Stretch out, reach out, and open for the Wu way.”

Symbols: “Golden palace, robe with dragons embroidered upon it”

Invocation: “This is a wonderful invocation to invite the Jade Emperor to help better organize and simplify your situation.

Light a stick of incense and hold it in your hand in a prayer position:

Say: “I humbly call upon you, Jade Emperor”

Then allow the incense smoke to permeate through your home or office and petition this supreme organizing energy to help simplify, clarify, protect and declutter your space.
Sprinkle some sea salt around the area and then chant three times:
‘Noble Emperor,
Every place has a place.
Noble Emperor,
Every item has a home.
Noble Emperor,
Heavenly Grandfather,
Make sense of chaos.
Transform and order.
Allow me to discard cleanly
And treasure carefully.’

Now begin to sort what you need to sort. Freely discard what you no longer need or what is broken. File or place in storage what you decide to keep. Then repeat the chant and vacuum up the salt.”*

We have one month of 2016 left and we are on to creating something new. It’s time to streamline, de-clutter and make space for something new. What (or who!?!) do you STILL need to release? And why are you STILL holding on?

There is an aspect of surrender to this message as well… maybe you have been fighting to keep something going that is just not working out. Maybe you have been clinging on to someone who is not healthy for you. Maybe you have clung on to old belief systems around what your life should look like or what you are capable of. Whatever it is, this is last call. Let all that go and get ready for something amazing and brand new.

The new is coming whether you are ready for it or not. Decide right now to make space for it, in your heart, in your mind and in your life.

Morgan Le Fae ~ Magic

Morgan Le Fae ~ Magic: “You have power, and it is real. A secret will be revealed. You have an unexpected ally. Seek the truth. Try some magic!”

“In the powerful legend of Avalon, the Lady Morgan Le Fae is a key and yet changeable figure. A mighty sorceress, with skills in magic to match Merlin’s legends cast her both as a truth seeking, harshly treated enchantress and as an evil witch, plotting her half brother, Arthur’s downfall.

In the early tales, Morgan Le Fae was either purely a member of the fae (supernatural faery spirits) or the talented sorceress daughter of Arthur’s mother, Lady Igraine, and her first husband, Gerlois, the Duke of Cornwall. According to early Celtic myth, Morgan Le Fae is a mistress of magic, a knowledgeable spell crafter, and a healer of note. The celts also believed, because of Morgan’s fae origins, that she is a shape-shifter.

As the myths developed further, Morgan Le Fae became a mild antagonist to Arthur, attempting to expose Guinevere’s adulterous ways or test those who were not loyal to him. As the myths evolved and became more Christianized, Morgan developed into a dark enemy who actively plotted Arthur’s death. Her role changed so that she became a temptress who tricked him into making love with her, after which she bore him a son, Mordred. It was said that she trained Mordred to hate Arthur and wish to overthrow him as rightful king.

Even though the stories portrayed her as a deadly enemy of Arthur, she was also one of the women who took Arthur in a barge to Avalon to be healed after his battle with Mordred. Here the story ends – Morgan Le Fae attempts to heal Arthur, indicating that it will take a long time.

Morgan Le Fae enchants her way into your life to remind you that magic is indeed real and the power of intention is great. There is magic in everything – nature, action, and especially ourselves. Those studying chemistry or physics can appeal to her for success. Morgan might also be tempting you to try some magic, for your highest good and for the highest good of all. Morgan was caught up in many intrigues and lies, and when the veils finally lifted, she didn’t always prosper. It is this aspect of her that reminds us that truth in all thins is often the best way forward, even though it may be hard.

Shadow Side: “There is always a duality to magic. A skilled practitioner can generate positive change or negative impact. It is important to be pure in our intentions; when we act for what seems to be positive reasons but is really an attempt to manipulate others, the Universe will know. Morgan Le Fae was either caught in her own Machiavellian weavings, affected by her own hatred, or just eager to expose the truth – whether or not she is a s dark as some stories paint her, her intentions are not clear. It is important to be honest with yourself and true in you r actions when Morgan is present.”

Symbols: “Crescent moon, Women with dark, flowing hair; ravens, potion bottles”*

~ By Stacey Demarco

I don’t believe that Morgan Le Fae was an evil witch or sorceress, I believe that the story was changed by those who feared her immense powers of magic. She became the Lady Of The Lake, a high priestess who was revered in a land that receded into the shadow realms of another dimension when it was not safe to be here anymore. She deserves our respect and reverence as a powerful healer and keeper of the sacred rituals of the Fae and forest magics.

Are you in touch with your own magic? If you need help, you can invoke the power of Morgan Le Fae to assist you in coming back to yourself and your inner wisdom. We all have magic within us, but often it is well hidden behind social conditioning and fear. We are all able to tap into our powers of intuition and instinct. We are all able to become vessels of Light and heal ourselves and those around us. And it is up to us to connect with Gaia and the magic of the forest, plants, animals, flowers, birds and elementals to bring this magic alive in our everyday lives. We can connect to the cycles of the moon, the seasons, and our own seasons. We can work in sacred ceremony to strengthen our connection. We can use the tools of divination in combination with our intuition to read energies. We can use the forces of nature and the elements to heal.

This is a call to magic. Your magic. Find it deep within and use it to expand your consciousness, your awareness and your connection to the Universe.

And so it is

Persephone: “Cycles”

“It is time for a change, and it will be positive. Respect your own natural cycles. Be mindful of seasonal changes and go with the flow taking these into account in your diet and activity level.”

“The god Zeus and his brother Hades, god of the underworld, were discussing Hades’s marriage. It seemed that the Hades, eligible in most respects, wanted a queen for himself. Persephone was the beautiful daughter of Zeus and Demeter – the goddess of agriculture – and seemed a fine choice. Zeus promised the hand of Persephone to Hades, and both men were pleased. Unfortunately, Zeus forgot his promise and neglected to inform any of the women! Hades became impatient waiting and decided to take Persephone.

One bright day, as Persephone was enjoying the sunshine outdoors with her handmaidens, she came upon a particularly stunning narcissus flower. As she picked it, she heard a great rumbling. Hades arose from the ground and seized her. Persephone struggled, but Hades overpowered her and took her down to the underworld.

Only the goddess Hekate and the sun god Helios heart her screams. Hekate told Demeter what she had heard. Being a devoted and loving mother, Demeter frantically searched for her daughter but to no avail. As she could think of nothing else besides her daughter, she began to neglect her role of grain giver and earth mother, and so the fields began to die.

Soon the people began to starve, and they cried to Zeus to save them. Helios told Demeter of Hade’s act, and Zeus was forced to demand that Hades return Persephone.

In the underworld, meanwhile, Persephone missed the world above but had begun to like Hades a little, so when he kindly offered her a pomegranate to eat, she accepted it. She had consumed six seeds of the glossy, ruby-red fruit when Zeus’s demand reached them. According to the Fates, if food or drink is consumed in the underworld, one must remain there, so it seemed Persephone would have to stay in the world of shadows. Zeus, however, came up with a compromise: Persephone would spend six months with Hades and six months above with Demeter.

As Persephone leaves the darkness, the goddess Hekate meets her, flaming torches in hand, and guides her back to the blue sky and her mother. Demeter, in her joy, resumes her work with the fields. Life again appears on earth. However, every six months, when Persephone returns to Hades, Demeter grieves and leaves the world barren.

This is a story of cycles, of how things naturally progress and change. In ancient Greece, when a young woman was married, she left home and joined the family of her husband. Her parents and siblings were both sad and happy and the bride often went through a period of adjustment. Although she lost her identity and freedom as a maiden, the bride became queen of her new home.

This story also illustrates how the seasons change, how the earth and its fruits die in the winter only to be reborn in the spring, flourish in the summer and be harvested in the autumn. Change and transition is everywhere, and constant. The natural cycles are something to be mindful of, connect with, and enjoy if we are to gain the most from our year.

Should the lovely Persephone grace your life, it is to remind you that cycles are natural. There are times to feel introverted and extroverted, energetic and restful, happy and sad – none of these is better than the other. There was a time you were a baby, a time you were a child, a time you will grow older – each with its own joys and challenges. Take the time to connect with your own personal cycles and you can expect to reap many benefits, particularly physical ones. Do not expect yourself to be happy just because others are, or ready for the same steps at the same time. Let your body and mind experience your life naturally and without expectation based on someone else’s cycles. Pressuring yourself or others to want the same things at the same time isn’t healthy or respectful of your true self.”

If This Card Comes To You As Challenger: “Resisting natural growth or cycles is not useful to developing a smooth and happy life. It is a natural part of life to grow up and to transform in our minds and bodies, and sometimes that can be a scary process. Additionally, there may be times when we do not want to accept the changes that need to be made, even if they are inevitable, and we may be angry and upset about them. Sometimes we face changes to our family situations, where we live, our relationships, or our schools that we do not like and cannot control, yet we must adapt to them the best way possible. We can learn resilience and be creative with our solutions.”

Symbolism: “Pomegranate, crown, robed woman carrying a sheath of wheat, spring, seeds, flowers”*

~by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

It’s natural to go through a grieving process when you have to give something up to make space for something new. Honour this time. Honour your feelings, let them flow through you, this is part of your journey into authenticity. You can’t stuff your emotions anymore and expect it not to have a lasting effect on your body, mind and spirit. You cannot pretend any longer that you don’t care, you don’t get hurt or you aren’t worth more than this. You are worth much more. But you have to accept the lesson first.

What, or who, do you need to release in order to move forward. And if you have been courageous enough to do this, give yourself time to process it. Heal. It takes a little time, it is a natural cycle. Do not let the fear of feeling the emotions allow you to refuse to experience them in all they have to offer you. Feel into it. Then bless and release with gratitude for the lesson learned. This is only a small part of something so much better you will not believe it. Until you make space for it and invite it in. Open mind and open heart.

Anything is possible now as you step into a brand new cycle in your life. There has been a cycle from 2008 to now that has come to an end. Bless, release and welcome in the new with open arms and open mind. This is going to be the beginning of something very special.

Persephone’s message to us is that sometimes we have to delve right into the darkness in order to find the light.

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Games ~ Ludi, from the Gospel Of Aradia, by Stacey Demarco, Artwork by Jimmy Manton

Games ~ Ludi: “Games should be aboveboard and full of fun. They should never be underhanded, covert, mean-spirited, or harmful in any way. If someone is playing a strategic game against you, understand it for what it is – indeed, a game – and change the rules to suit yourself. Seek the light-hearted company of others. A celebration will soon be announced.

“A lighter heart is sometimes apt,
When a game between two is played.
One gets to know the other a little better,
And opinions may be changed or swayed.

But games too can be wild and dark,
Hiding what is and what will be.
Battered and bruised he way might go,
And winning bring no guarantee.”

It was said that Diana’s witches and those who were devoted to Aradia gathered annually for games – running games, horse racing, and other sports, as well as games of chance – and the celebration of a Sabbath. This could be wishful thinking on behalf of storytellers – imagine how delightful, hundreds of women dancing and gaming! – Or it could be marvellously true. However, women questioned independently described a setting where games were played and the rites to Diana were performed too.

And the place where they gathered? Well, it may have been an actual geographic location. Mention of the Italian city of Benevento recurs in the depositions, and so it was believed that this was the center of the games of the witches. However, in many depositions it also says,”they flew here” (brooms were optional!), so they may have met in a realm to which they traveled in trance. But wherever it occurred, the Sabbath gatherings were repeated each year and looked forward to by all witches in the spirit of friendship and love.

We see the shadow side of game playing in those games in which someone gets hurt – not physically hurt, but mentally or emotionally. Mind games that are played to belittle or bully someone else – or to make us feel better about ourselves at another’s expense – are not about enjoyment or even competition. Instead, they are about abuse of power. There is a deep seated problem with bullying and negative game playing, both amongst young people in schools and between co-workers within corporate environments. We need to attend to this issue and learn why this abusive pattern persists.”*

~ By Stacey Demarco

Where are games being played in your life right now? Maybe someone is playing you… maybe you have a feeling that you are being played but you are not sure. Maybe you are trying to deal with an issue in a strategic way, in an effort to remain on top of the situation. Only you know how games are being played out, and only you can be the one to make sure that no one is getting hurt. It may mean that you need to listen more closely to your intution… is it telling you that something is not quite right? Or it may be that you have to listen to your conscience… are you really coming from a place of integrity or are you manipulating someone to get what you want?

Whatever the situation may be, the message here is that we cannot live a life of authenticity if we are playing games. We cannot be true to ourselves if we are allowing ourselves to be played. This is of the old, competitive, lack mentality. It is of the old limited ways of thinking. It comes from trying to outwit others to put ourselves at the top of the hierarchy. These ways must be left behind in order to embrace the New Consciousness. The Consciousness of Unconditional Love.

For how can we manipulate or be manipulated in the face of Unconditional Love? How can we be our pure, undiluted and perfect selves? How can we come to a place of Divine Wisdom and uncompromised Truth? It simply cannot be.

Drop the mind games and open your heart to your situation. Maybe you need to let go of someone or something that is toxic to you. Maybe it is time to alter the direction of your life path to find a healthier perspective. Bless and release the games and step boldly into your truth. Demand the very same integrity from others that you courageously offer them.

Play games with your pets, your kids. Make sure they are uplifting, heart centered and fun. These are the only games to lovingly partake in.

Loki ~ Play

Loki ~ Play, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Loki ~ Play, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

Loki ~ Play: “Look at the lighter side of the situation. Rediscover your sense of humor and play.”

“Loki is a trickster god. Tricksters are those gods who, though tricking, shape shifting, playing the fool or simply playing, become teachers in the lessons of life. In this way, they humble the powerful, expose the unjust, and balance imbalances.

Loki plays his trickster role superbly and is featured in many stories in Norse mythology. One story that displays Loki’s talents is on the theft of Thor’s magical hammer, Mjollnir.

Thor awoke one morning to find his hammer missing. Little did he know that King Prymr had stolen it to blackmail the gods into granting him the hand of the goddess Freya in marriage. Thor asked Loki for help. After borrowing Freya’s winged cloak to help speed things up a bit, Loki flew around until he came upon King Prymr. Acting innocent to the plot, Loki soon ascertained that the hammer was buried underground, and he relayed Prymr’s ultimatum to Thor.

After visiting Freya again and learning from her that she would certainly not marry King Prymr, the Norse gods gathered to discuss their strategy. It was suggested that Thor disguise himself as Freya. Covered i a bridal veil, he could possibly get close enough to his hammer to regain it. Thor was outraged, but the clever Loki convinced him of the wisdom of this play.

And so the “bride” was presented, and King Prymr happily greeted them and invited them to a great feast. Thor, ever the big warrior, began to shovel the food through his veil at a great rate, prompting Prymr to question “Freya’s” hunger. Loki confidently answered that Freya had starved herself in eagerness for the coming nuptials. Unable to control his lust, Prymr then peaked behind the veil only to be met by a set of fiery, savage eyes not fit for a maiden. the king again questions Loki about his bride, and Loki smiled and told Prymr it was because she had not slept for eight nights in her excitement at meeting him. Finally it was time for the ceremony. The king’s men brought out Mjollnir, to lay it on “Freya’s” lap to sanctify her prior to the marriage vows. Of course, Thor now had his chance. He grabbed his hammer and threw off his gown. Thor defeated Prymr and all of his people, all because of Loki’s rather clever prank!

Loki was also well equipped to aid his trickery. As a shape shifter he has few rivals. Stories claim he can change into a seal, a woman, a fish, a horse and even a housefly!

It is wise to take a leaf out of Loki’s book and find a way to laugh at your troubles. It is a great talent to find the humor in any circumstance. Should Loki call you, look to the lighter side of the situation – there always is one! Ask yourself: When was the last time I actually laughed, played, or did something downright silly? There is much freedom in this!

Shadow Side: “It’s not nice to be tricked if the outcome is cruel rather than character shaping. Loki did, at times, stretch friendships, and at these times did not come out as the victor. There is also a big difference between light jesting and making fun of someone. Ridicule just to build up ourselves is the shadow side of play. It tears others down, as well as ourselves.

Another way the shadow side is expressed is when, rather than showing real emotion when things are not going well, we smile through it, masking our own true feelings. Are we covering a soul wound or the expression of healthy emotion with too much play? We must be true to our emotions and ourselves; not cover them with jokes and false laughter.”

Symbols: “Horses, Bound Man, Snakes”

~ By Stacey Demarco

It’s time for you to find a clever way to deal with a certain person or situation in your life. This is not going to be a typical solution, it is going to take all your wit and inner resources. Think of yourself as the trickster. How areĀ  you going to have a little fun with this? How are you going to bring things back into balance, without anyone getting hurt, but in a way that is definitely way outside the box? Yes, things may get a little uncomfortable, but trust me, no one will be bored!

We often chicken out and decide to ice things over instead of making the necessary changes. We laugh when our feelings are hurt, and we brush off the little criticisms or insults we receive. We don’t speak up for ourselves. We laugh at our own expense, get in on jokes that actually hurt our feelings and pretend that we think pranks are funny when we feel humiliated. We lower our expectations of those around us, and when greeted with sarcasm or hostility we ignore it and paste a smile on our faces.

Not anymore!

Now we will stand firmly in our power. We will set boundaries and not allow others to cross them at our expense. We will treat everyone with respect and we will demand that they treat us with the same respect in return. And we will do it with a smile. With a twinkle in our eye and a skip in our step. For we no longer have to take ourselves so seriously. But don’t cross us, it’s really not worth it. Once the line is crossed, and the respect is truly lost, it will take a whole lot of effort on your part to attempt to repair the damage done.

Fair warning.

Namaste
