New Moon Fae

New Moon Fae

Daily Angel Oracle Card: New Moon Fae, from the Oracle Of The Dragonfae, by Lucy Cavendish artwork by Jimmy Manton, published by Blue Angel

New Moon Fae: “Soul scrying.”

The New Moon Fae Speaks: “I rule myths and dreams, which encapsulate truths about yourself in forms that you can work with. I rule creativity and the storyteller, and that which enchants. I am Imagination, Instinctive Wisdom, and Archetypal energies and forms which cross cultural boundaries. I love the moonlight – and I know only too well that the light of the Crystal One can mean madness, or enlightenment. I am the enchanted strange outsider, as are you, and so I understand when you feel you are not at home in this world. Sometimes I know you feel as if you are not at home in this world. Sometimes I know you feel as if you are not part of the mainstream, and you can feel isolated. Please remember that under the moonlight you cannot see the full spectrum of colours, but you can often see between the worlds and deep into the true essence of all.

Do not feel ashamed of your strangeness and your shadows. They can be beautiful and mysterious if they are loved, embraced and Owned. But something is missing and I have cast out a part of myself that I am now waiting to return. Like you, I am nearing a time of action, where I must go in search of all of myself; but for this moment, I take solace in the reflections of this still and moonlit pool, and even in the stark lacework of the bare trees, I find truth and hope.

You too have this quicksilver and primal energy, but I encourage you now to become practical, to deal with difficulties and separation and to dissolve your fears through action, strength and acceptance. However, do not shut out your own fears and intuition. What you resist and repress only regroups in the shadows and draws strength from denial. Instead, bring your fears out into the open and shine the sunlight on them. Embrace all of who you are. Your accepted social mask can now be dropped; you may now incorporate the power of heightened psychic ability, which can be hard to communicate and read accurately. Do not despair. You will learn to understand and interpret your own psychic and symbolic language if you practice, as I am now, in this sacred pool. If you do not make a conscious effort, your unconscious will continue to do the work on your behalf anyway. You may be a psychic night time being with fragile, but powerful abilities, but you are also of the elements, and the Dragonfae can teach you strength and give you the wisdom with which to use it well.

Divinatory Meaning: “You may be feeling abandoned at this time, or like a part of who you are is missing. It can also indicate that you have been experiencing a false belief that all others do not like or accept you. In truth, when this card is revealed, it is that New Moon Fae wishes to indicate that you do not like and accept yourself and that you may be choosing to hide from your own psychic ability and wild self, your spirit visions shrouded by denial. Withdrawal, depression,  drinking, eating, sleeping to drown out your inner voice and ability. Fearful superstitions, feeling that your abilities are not God-like or God-given. Guilt over psychic abilities and beliefs. Dark night of the soul, expecting total clarity from visions, misunderstanding the nature of psychic work. Longing, yearning but inactive. Sensation of drowning. Memory problems. Soul amnesia. Period pain. Water retention. Tendency to turn to alcohol, food or other substances to drown out psychic messages.

Working with the New Moon Fae: “Take yourself to a quiet place in nature and make a commitment to practice your meditations, your readings, your own techniques for connecting with Spirit on a more regular basis, and particularly at the beginning of each lunar cycle. Also know that you need moonlight, as well as the beautiful brightness of the sun. Moonlight will cleanse you and assist you in re-balancing, gently and naturally. In this way, you will learn to trust the part of your soul you have misplaced, and in that trusted sanctuary, it can return to you. Remember, nothing is lost. All that is truly yours shall return.”*

The angels use your intuition to communicate with you; as does your higher self. As of late, you have been ignoring messages you don’t want to hear; refusing to see the “red flags” that the angels are showing you. You know the situation I am referring to, and this message is telling you that you can no longer hide from aspects of yourself that you wish to. It is time to embrace who you are in full, with unconditional love and non-judgmental acceptance; you are worthy.

Surround yourself with loving, accepting and open minded people who love you unconditionally; taking a step back from negativity and low vibrational energy. Ask the angels to shield you from people who would control you or keep you down. Listen to your intuition, the good and the “bad”, as it is all perspective and will lead you to your highest good; there really is no bad.

Make time for yourself to be alone, doing what you are passion about and letting your creative energy flow. Commune with Gaia, and acknowledge your connection to her beauty. Meditate, listen to music, walk outside and hear the birds and admire the flowers and the trees. Do yoga. Breathe. Know that you are Divinely guided and supported. Know that you can raise your vibration higher and higher, raising your consciousness and accepting more love into your heart. But it starts with you. Loving you.

Vulcan ~ Inventiveness

Published June 26, 2018 by Dee ~ Archangel Oracle

Vulcan ~ Inventiveness, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton published by Beyond Words

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Vulcan ~ Inventiveness, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton published by Beyond Words

Vulcan ~ Inventiveness: “Think outside the box and go for the most creative solution. Hold your emotions in check and think rationally.”

“There was one god the ancient Romans valued above all others for his inventiveness and ingenuity: Vulcan. In his Greek embodiment, Hephaestus, he is both respected and courted by the other gods for his skills, yet scorned as well, for he is not perfect physically, as are the other gods. In fact when Juno, Vulcan’s mother, saw her son, she flung him from Olympus, down to the island of Lemnos on earth. (The airport there today is called Hephaestus!) Thetis (who was also eventually the mother of Achilles) raised him, and he invented the art of blacksmithing.

There is nothing that Vulcan cannot make. His creativity and inventiveness abound. He crafts items that are not only beautiful but supremely practical: the winged boots of Mercury; the armor of Achilles; Sol’s sun chariot; the unbreakable chains that held poor Prometheus to his rock; and incredibly, the first women, Pandora, is also his divine handiwork.

His intelligence and mastery shone when he tricked the rather unmotherly Juno not only into allowing him into her home but also into granting him the hand of the most beautiful of goddesses, Venus. Vulcan never quite forgave his mother for he slight upon him as an infant. He made her a golden throne that was untouched in its artistry, under the guise of a gift. Juno accepted it (how could she not?), but as soon as she sat on it, mechanical coils sprang forth, trapping her in the chair. No matter how hard she tried, she could not free herself. The son she looked down upon now had the upper hand and negotiated his return to Olympus with Venus as his wife.

When you need to think outside the box, when you have run out of ideas, when you need to create something practical to solve a problem, Vulcan is your god! Celebrating or further developing your uniqueness and cognitive abilities are also Vulcan traits.

It is said that the geeks have inherited out earth now! These are the people who use their minds and inventiveness rather than their force and brawn. Vulcan would appreciate this very much. He was a misfit and was literally cast out of Olympus, but he accepted who he was and found his place in the world. Should Vulcan step forth in your life today, using your rationality, rather than your emotions, to make decisions may be the way to go.”

Shadow Side: “Only using our head and never our heart is not the best path. Vulcan, for all his practicality and skill, was not lucky in love. Venus cheated on him with hot-blooded Mars partially due to Vulcan’s coolness.

Those who are different in some way are sometimes feared. Vulcan’s appearance and his magical skills as a blacksmith made him difficult to understand for those who did not take time to know him more deeply. Are there people you fear or are intolerant of because of their differences or skills? Or are you, yourself, the victim of this? Intolerance is a theme running through some of Vulcan’s stories, so ask his assistance in coping with this should it be affecting you in any way.”

Symbols: “Anvil, hammer and tongs, fire”

Invocation: “You will need a hammer and a piece of metal to bang on – anything you do not mind denting a little! It should make a good ringing sound when you strike it!

Light a red candle. Make a rhythm by hitting the hammer on the metal just as a blacksmith would. Sing or say:

Let’s sing the praises of Vulcan
Let’s hear his hammer beat.
Let’s sing the praises of Vulcan,
Feel his mastery and feel his heat.
Let me learn what I can from Vulcan.
The solution is what I fashion.
I learn what I can from Vulcan,
Full of fire, full of ration.
Let’s see what I have from Vulcan,
More ingenuity in every beat.
Let’s see what I have from Vulcan.
My solution is complete.

Ban hard three times on the metal and repeat:

My solution is complete

Ask Vulcan to tell you what to do next, to give you some hint or first step toward the solution. Write anything and everything that comes to mind down and later, act on anything that seems urgent. These are your instructions from Vulcan.

Leave the metal piece on your altar or desk or throw it in a fire to complete the invocation.”*

We are all connected, all part of the whole. Part of something so much bigger than our individual selves. Yet we are all like the cogs on a wheel, each one is important to the whole. And as much as we are all intertwined, we are also unique and individual. We have a skill set, we have gifts to share that make us stand out.

Your gifts are needed now. Your special way of communicating; your unique way of seeing the world. Your heart, your soul, your Light. Maybe there are aspects that you have dropped or hidden along the way, scared of rejection or of not fitting in. Maybe someone told you that you are not special, or tried to keep you down. Maybe it is your own nasty voice inside, doubting and fearing and keeping you small.

There is an opportunity coming to you that will require you to be comfortable in being You. Something that suits you perfectly. Something that allows you to shine your light, to be of service. Most likely it won’t really feel like work as there is passion in stepping into your power and doing what you came here to do… unless of course you have veered off track and that is no longer your comfort zone. Only you know.

Embrace it. Allow it to empower you and pull you forward into doing what you should be doing.

We need you. All of you. Each and every one of you.

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Coll Hazel, from the Celtic Tree Oracle, by Sharyln Hidalgo, Artwork by Jimmy Manton, published by Blue Angel Publishing

Coll Hazel:

“Northern Hemisphere Dates: June 13-July 10 (Southern Hemisphere Dates: December 13-January 10)
Totems: Hare, Scarab, Tortoise and Turtles, Crab, Salmon
Deities/Guides: Gaia and The Great Mother Goddesses like Sophia and Isis, and Fintan, the White Ancient One
Letters: C, K
Class: Chieftan
9th Lunation
Celebration: Summer Solstice, June 20/21 (December 21/22)”

Keywords: “Water, the moon, bounty and abundance, intuition, wisdom, insight, knowledge, sage advice, divination, poetry, creative pursuits, higher perspective, clarity”

“The Coll Hazel initiates in the ninth lunation and includes the celebration of the summer solstice, also known as Alban Heruin, Midsummer, and Litha. Here we give our gratitude for the abundance of Mother Earth. Hazel is about compassion and love for our friends and families – as well as safety and protection, which are important aspects of mothering and nurturing. Hazel supports our emotional life. She honors the moon and the waters of our planet. She supports creative expression in the form of story, poetry, art, song and dance. Hazel brings clarity when we seek advice. The ogham for this tree is Coll and the letters C and K.”

Coll Hazel In A Reading: “Your feminine nature, the changing of the moon, the lunar principle of receptivity and mystery, and the Goddess Sophia of higher wisdom are all relevant now. Your female lineages have something to say to you, as do your spiritual heritages. Take some quiet time to tune in and listen for their nurturing messages. Take your initiation seriously. Find time to sit by a body of water near your home; a lake, the ocean, a river or a stream. This tree suggests appreciation. Appreciate cycles. What cycle are you in right now? This tree suggests acceptance of where you are right now as it is impossible to push the river.

It is time to give gratitude for all that you have and to honor the earth. Notice the abundance around you. This is a time for family time and family reunions. This card invites you to find gratitude for all the mothers in your life. If you require nurturing, cultivate friendships that can support you. Nurture others. Mother each other with compassion. It may be time to heal the mother wound. Perhaps this is the time for forgiveness. If you are a mother, make sure you are representing the best qualities of this role. If not, move towards changing your behaviour. Be the kind of mother that you would like to have yourself.

Spend some time in nature and follow the course of the moon. Consider poetry, divination, and meditation. Call up your  inner muse, as you can find inspiration here. Pay attention to your dreams and creative urges.

You are offered wisdom that can be applied to any situation. Creative solutions are possible. Seek the advice of elders. If you seek clarity this card will offer you sage advice. Go within and ask the ancestors for a specific message for you.”

As Challenger: “Are you ignoring your intuitive knowing? Perhaps you don’t like what you are sensing, as change is indicated. Even so, it is time to pay attention to wisdom that is offered you. Are you resistant to advice?

Are you cut off from other women? From the mothers in your life? Perhaps it is time to heal a mother wounding. Perhaps you are cut off from your family or your connection to Mother Earth. How do you mother yourself? It is time to cease repeating habitual negative messages to yourself. Instead, begin giving yourself the nurturing you require. Offer this to others, as well. Too much criticism separates us from ourselves and others.

Perhaps you are experiencing a creative block. Is it time to learn new skills? Would it help you to work with others to overcome creative obstacles? If so, look to your community. Or it may be that you feel stymied in your pursuits and goals because you are not heeding your intuition. If so, go within and reconnect with your own inner knowing.”

Message: “I represent your own inner wisdom. I am that small, still voice inside that is sometimes hard to hear. I stand up for the heart wisdom that insures life and health for you, your situations, and your mother planet. You’ll find my speaking in a babbling brook or a dense forest. You’ll find me in the fullness of the summer sun. I am part of the paradise in which you live. I produce the hazelnut of wisdom and ancient knowledge. Please take care of me and of yourself and the children of this world. I am the birth of your own dreams and visions. Now is a good time to use your divination tools. It is also a great time to support others and act as a guide or helper.”*

 ~ By Sharyln Hidalgo

Here we have a message of nurturing, communication, deeper connection and creating community. Tomorrow is Solstice, our longest day of the year and a day of Light, abundance, luck and joy. What will you set as your intention this Summer Solstice? (Or winter solstice if you are in the Southern Hemisphere!) What do you invite into your reality, what have you made space for, what are you focusing on now?

Make a plan now to spend some time outside, in your favourite garden, forest, park or beach. Give yourself time to slow down and enjoy being present. Let your instincts and intuition guide you. Communicate with the trees. Honour every plant and creature. Feel the connection you have with each and every one of them, and the overall energy of the wild space.

If you can, watch the sun go down and the stars come out. Send gratitude for all that you have in your life right now. And meet tomorrow with open heart and open mind. You are stepping into the second chapter of 2018. What magic will it hold in the face of all the chaos? Whatever magic you create.

Duir Oak:

“Northern Hemisphere Dates: April 18-May 15th (Southern Hemisphere Dates: October 18-November 15).
Totems: Bull, Flowers, Budding Plants, Seeds, Thresholds and Doorways, Faeries
Deities/Guides: The Cow Goddess Hathor, the Sky Goddess Nut, Gaia, Blodeuwedd (The Maiden Aspects of the Godess), The White Moon Goddess, The Horned God Cernunnos, The Green Man
Letter: D
Class: Chieftain
7th Lunation
Celebration: Beltane, May 1st (November 1st)

Keywords: “Fertility and sexuality, strength and stability, grounding and endurance, ancient knowledge, doors and thresholds, boundaries.

The Duir Oak initiates in the seventh lunation and includes the celebration of Beltane. The sacred marriage is enacted, now, between the community’s representation of the Great Goddess and Curnunnos, which ensures fertility for an other season. This is the holiday of sexuality and sensuality and represents a threshold which the maiden aspect of the Goddess crosses into the Mother aspect. We celebrate the blood mysteries and the young women’s first menarche. We celebrate fertility and the magic of the green earth that sustains us. This is a time of conception and the beginning of new life with the returning of the sun. This tree offers strength, stamina, and is a symbol for generation. The ogham for this tree is Duir and the letter D.”

Duir Oak In A Reading: “Oak, in a reading, gifts you with strength and endurance, stamina and grounded stability.

This tree offers you practicality, common sense, and an ability to bring things to completion. There is a desire to make things beautiful and to create. You may choose to work in the garden, now, as this is the card for a green thumb. It signifies a time to notice nature and spend some time out of doors. It is time to take a hike or go to the park. Take in the beauty of the green earth.

Oak also is an indication of fertility, whether you are conceiving a child, project, business, or other creative endeavour. Oak celebrates sensuality and sexuality and the sacred act of creation and progeny.

This tree also promises you knowledge, information, guidance, and wisdom. Expect synchronicities. Situations, people, dreams, and books may appear for your benefit and growth. Doors are opening up for you, and thresholds are meant to be crossed. This is a time to feel strong and secure as you build toward the manifestation of your dreams.”

As Challenger: “You may feel powerless or weakened, when Duir Oak appears as Challenger. You may be called upon to depend upon others for your protection, now, because you feel weaker than usual and require more security. You may feel overly excited, manic, anxious, or nervous and ungrounded. You may be carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. This may indicate that you are in need of support and assistance. Is it time to get practical and schedule an appointment with your doctor, therapist, minister, or spiritual advisor?

Perhaps you are feeling stagnant, bored or stuck. Are you saying ‘no,’ too often? Are you stopping your growth because of too-comfortable habits and routines? Although these may make you feel safe, they can keep you stagnant, and you may feel discontent because of a lack of flow and positive activity in your life. It is time to get off the couch. Only so much security can come from things. Real security comes from presence. Leave the past and drop your worries about the future. Be in the now and feel the love.”

Message: “I am the steady, faithful Oak. Seek me and sit with me. I am old and strong and grounded. I will take your troubles and let them flow into Mother Earth for their transmutation. She knows what to do with the energy. I am the promise of spring. You can see my energy in the budding flowers. I am the daffodils and the tulips come to life. I am all of the little wild animals creatures in nature, the squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, and possums. They all come together under my sacred space. Come and sit in my grove, which is the most ancient of temples and churches. Nature is your home; you are safe here and nurtured. Breathe me in and breathe me out. I will help you remember your true nature. You are loved and you are beautiful. You are perfect already You have everything you need to manifest your dreams and desires. It is time to begin. This beginning is like the acorn that is a mighty symbol of growth and regeneration. What you begin has the potential to grow into a great oak tree of your own manifestation.”*

~ By Sharlyn Hidalgo

Today is more than the first day of May. It is Beltane, an ancient day of the celebration of fertility, creativity and deep earth connection. Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine coming together. God and Goddess, equal, balanced, passionate and wild. It is a powerful portal of creative manifestation that, no matter what your particular religious or spiritual beliefs, can be welcomed as our ability to manifest is amplified exponentially.

What you focus your intention on is what you create, today. The repercussions of this manifestation will be felt into the future near and far. The emotions that fuel your creativity will be the stone and mortar of the reality you create.

What are you feeling? Where is your attention? How are you focused? What do you believe is possible for you, right now? Add all that up and you get the sum of the equasion of what you are creating. Are you feeling like a victim, like nothing is going right for you? Get ready for more of that. Are you rising above the drama and setting course for something new? Get ready for that. You are at the helm of this boat that you created. Is it a castaway style log raft or is it a beautiful sailboat gliding through rough seas? Also up to you…

Today is the day to embrace every beautiful aspect of being you. Love yourself. Accept yourself. Drop the judgment, the doubt, the fear and especially the negativity or victimhood. That no longer serves you. Choose something different today.

Be your wildest sexy self. Put on something beautiful; bust out a favourite outfit, shirt or piece of jewelry. Rock a new hairstyle. Smile. Flirt innocently. Hug someone you love and tell them you love them, life is too short to keep those important declarations inside. Treat yourself to something (healthy) that makes you smile. Do your favourite thing to do, or make a plan to do it very soon. Sing. Dance. Skip. Pick some wild flowers. Have a sensual date with your favourite person. Eat your favourite food…You get the gist of it. Sensuality.

And lastly, honour our Great Mother in this beautiful season. Smell the flowers in the air. Hug a tree. Leave an offering, create an altar and be sure to burn a candle and some delicious incense to honour this fiery and passionate occasion. Bring vitality back into your life in all areas and watch your reality transform through positive action and intention.

All up to you.

Ull

Published April 5, 2018 by Dee ~ Archangel Oracle

Ull, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

Daily Angel Oracle Card: Ull, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

Ull: “Focus”

“Clear mindedness and a focused intent are necessary for success right now. You need stamina for long-term projects.”

“In the blanket of white that is the snowfield, a figure with a bow waits. He is camouflaged against his enemies. He is the picture of stillness, hardly moving, but when he does, it is with deliberate grace and absolute surety.

The sure, clear-eyed gaze runs along the straightness of the arrow. The arrow’s tip dully glows against the flush of the fingers holding it steady. Without ado, with complete ease, the figure releases the bowstring, and there is a hiss of energy and then the dull thump of the arrow impacting deep into its target. Then and only then does the bowman breathe out. Only then does he move to become more leather clad deity than snowman. As he rises to his full height, we see Ull, Norse god of marksman.

Ull is a very old deity associated with Germanic and Scandinavian people. Being a great marksman could mean the difference between eating and an empty belly, or between killing and dying, so Ull is an important god to have on your side.

Should you be going out to hunt something (think beyond hunting animals), to trap an idea, to chase a goal, or to travel in harsh environments (whether that means physical snowfields or emotional minefields), you would call upon Ull for the focus required for success. It is Ull who invented skiing and snowshoeing, and ancient artwork depicts him with sleds and skis.

Today Ull is a popular god of skiing. Some modern Nordic Olympians wear symbols of Ull on their clothes and equipment. It is certainly worth saying a few prayers to him next time you wish to tackle a harder than usual ski run!

Call on Ull when you need more focus and clarity in your life. No matter how harsh the terrain, literal or emotional, Ull can get you through to where you wish to be. He can lend you the stamina you need to complete a task when there are distractions, obstacles, or haters all around you. He is the essence of calm centeredness and will help you to achieve what you wish to achiever with a minimum of fuss.”

Shadow Side: “Focus is generally a good thing; however, if we focus on one thing and one thing only, to the exclusion of all else, this can be an issue in the long-term. We all know people who focus wholly on school and forget they have friends or other commitments – this is the shadow side of being focused. Focus is important, but so is balance.”

Symbols: “Bow and arrow, skiing, sleds”

Invocation: “Find or fashion an arrowhead. Hold it in your hand and say:

No matter what I chase,
No matter what I do,
Clear flight to my arrow
May it hit my true target!
Ull, I need your assistance with (state what you need to focus on)
Be with me on my journey; show me how to hit my mark!”

I love doing an invocation to Ull when I am in the snow. Try this blessing before you head out for a day on the slopes.
Place your skis or snowboard upright in the snow. Make a snowball or two. Stand back at least five paces and throw your snowballs at your skis. When the snow hits the target say:

“Blessings from Ull. I hit my target true.
Bless my skis/snowboard through and through.”*

~ By Stacey Demarco

We are reminded here of the importance of clarity and focus. Of getting really clear on what it is that we wish to create, and putting the necessary energies into it. Laser focus. Conviction that the goal is possible. No distractions. No one to take away our power. Absolute commitment to the end result.

What are you creating? Where is  your focus? Are you taking responsibility for your life or are you blaming others for your predicaments?

How can you get crystal clear on what you are manifesting? A dream board? A list? An altar? How can you bring to your conscious mind where your energy is going, and correct what must be corrected in order to master your ability to mold your life into what you desire?

How can you be of service? What can you do in order to give back? How can you incorporate more healing, expansion, awareness and love into your life now?

This is a card of victory, of goals achieved and success attained. It is a message of possibility, of belief in the self and what is possible. Will you follow the guidance? Will you find your clarity, vision and focus? Will you commit to something new and put in the necessary effort to see it through?

Nuada ~ Perfection

Published February 20, 2018 by Dee ~ Archangel Oracle

Nuada ~ Perfection, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

Daily Angel Card: Nuada ~ Perfection, from the Gods and Titans Oracle Card deck, by Stacey Demarco, artwork by Jimmy Manton

Nuada ~ Perfection: “Love and appreciate your uniqueness and you ‘imperfections.’ Question the costs of chasing perfection. Delight in who you are.”

“The story of Nuada is a very ancient one that has woven itself into different themes and variants over different times and places. One thing that stays constant is his exploration of suitability and perfection.

Nuada is the King of Erin, one of the heroic Tuatha de Danann, which was one of the mythical ancient races of Ireland. According to myth, these early Celtic times were far from peaceful, with bloody battles being waged continuously. During one of the major battles, the Dananns, led by Nuada and his sword of invincibility, defeated the Firbolgs. The fighting was so bloody and fierce, though, that Nuada lost his right hand. This was a disaster for Nuada, as there was an ancient law that precluded anyone who was not ‘whole’ from being kind. His mutilation lost him his rule even though he was a victorious, just and benevolent leader.

The Dananns then chose Bres ans their leader. Bres, although a skilled fighter, had little of Nuada’s wisdom and fairness. The kingdom soon felt the effects of this discordant king.

Nuada’s brother, the physician Dian Cecht, fashioned a magical silver hand to replace the one Nuada had lost. Not only functional, the silver hand was beautiful too. Nuada became Nuada Airgedlamh (Nuada of the Silver Hand), again worthy among his people, and Bres steppe down from the throne.

Today, more than ever, we chase perfection, but what is it really? We often see external perfection as necessary to success. The quest for perfect beauty and a perfect body has thrown us toward a predilection for worrying about our external looks, ‘enhancing’ ourselves with too much makeup and even surgery, and obsessing over dieting and unhealthy eating habits. When did the fact that we have healthy, strong and functional bodies become not enough?

We are born with everything we need to be what we are meant to be. We are born imperfectly perfect! Our uniqueness has a reason. Nuada reminds us that to be perfect, we need not pursue some unattainable and false idea. Perfection is a subjective judgment and not an objective reality. In Nuada’s case, he was the best leader; his missing and did not take away from his great leadership qualities.”

Shadow Side: “Many people state that they are perfectionists like it is a badge of honor. While trying to be excellent and the best we can be is admirable, striving for an unattainable illusion is tiring and damaging. Remember, should Nuada show his hand to you, consider that you may well be good enough already!”

Symbols: “Silver hand, invincible sword.”

Invocation: “You may like to place a silver object on your altar as an offering to Nuada. If it is a piece of jewelry, you may wish to wear it in honor of Nuada and as a reminder of your own unique perfection!”

Light a silver candle. Say out loud:

Beloved of the Tuatha de Danann,
Great chieftan Nuada,
Hear my petition!
I feel judged.
I feel I am not enough.
Help me feel my wholeness.
Cut through my insecurity.
(State here what you need help with.)
Help me feel my birthright flood through me
like blood through my veins.
You who heal, you who know,
Guide and protect my next steps.
I honour you, Nuada of the Silver Hand!”

~ By Stacey Demarco

Sometimes we hold ourselves back for the most absurd reason: Perfection. We believe that we have to be perfect in order to deserve what we desire. We believe we must be successful, or svelte or beautiful before we get what we truly want out of life. So, in the pursuit of perfection, we lose out on our dreams. We quite literally push them away seeking something better because we cannot see what is before us.

This has to stop.

There is so much emphasis on wealth and physical attractiveness and / or fitness in our culture that we have all but lost our minds. We value people for all the wrong reasons. We put people above us for all the wrong reasons. I will not mention names…

We look at what someone else has, and if we do not have it then we assume that they are simply better than we are. In turn, we look down on those who have less than we do, blaming them for their own twist of fate. We even have labels for different parts of the world being first world, third world, etc. Many people truly believe that they cannot improve their circumstances and they focus so much on the lack or the chaos in front of them, that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

But maybe there is another way. Maybe if we valued ourselves more, it would change the world around us. If we could truly love and accept ourselves, we wouldn’t need the big bank account or the plastic surgery to prove our worth. Maybe we could judge ourselves on our own scales by our own level of peace, joy and happiness. And let others do the same. Truly celebrate our individual diversity as well as our deep connections to each other, knowing that we all have something valuable to offer, regardless of race, gender or lifestyle choices.

Rather than striving for perfection, strive for passion and joy; inspiration, acceptance and a heart full of love. Yes, we all need to get by, but we can do it without judging ourselves or others harshly. We can work together to support each other on our unique and individual life paths.

For the Highest Good Of All

And so it is

Gaia ~ Creation: “You are creative in every way. There are no barriers to constant, consistent creation. Allow yourself to create in joy, not because of pressure. Connect more deeply with the earth.”

“Almost every culture has a creation myth, and the ancient Greeks were no exception. They believed that there was nothing at first but a primordial whirl of matter. This state was called Chaos. Then some organizing influences formed and stepped from Chaos, the first of which were Eros (love) then Gaia (earth).

Gaia then gave birth to Uranus, the sky; Ourea, the mountains, and Pontus, the sea. Gaia considered Uranus her equal, and they joined together. Uranus exploded in joy and love, showering Gaia with stars and rain, and she bore other gods, goddesses, and titans including Rhea, a daughter; Cronus, a son; and the terrible titan, Typhon.

The earth goddess has been venerated in her role as creator since time began. She may well have been worshipped originally as the ultimate mother, the first energy to nourish and provide creative fertility. She deserved the attention – she provided early humans with everything they needed to survive: food, water, shelter, and even plants for medicine.

Gaia celebrates and rejoices in her creations whether they are plant, animal, wind, rain, sight, sound, titan, or animal. Even when her creations horrify her, she still protects them and finds a place for them. True creation always brings with it a spark of joy.

Gaia has become a popular goddess among modern spiritual people and no longer belongs only to ancient Greek mythology. When people speak of the living spirit of the earth, they often name it Gaia. We know much more about the earth and the systems that make it work now than the ancient Greeks did; however, the way they saw that Gaia was a living cycle with interconnecting influences does them much credit. Even the idea that there was a sort of big bang out of the primordial Chaos is something that our brightest scientists are only just getting their heads around, but it was simple truth for the Greeks.

Gaia is the ultimate expression of creative power. When you need a creative spark to arise within you, when you are tired of doing things the same old way, when you need growth within yourself, turn to the deep, loving, creative energy of Gaia. If you are drawn to something that calls for consistent creativity – such as the arts, music, drama, or invention – or even if you need a new approach to writing something as simple as a paper, she is a wonderful deity to help you maintain a steady flow. For those involved in environmental protection, she is an invaluable ally.”

Shadow Side: “Gaia eventually faded from the active worship of the Greeks in favor of other deities. Over time, humans forgot about the earth and her delicate cycles and began to worship the gods of industry with little thought to the impact on the earth. Today we are well aware of the consequences of a growing human footprint. We wipe whole species from the earth, we destroy her very fabric with atomic bombs, we mine her lifeblood, we rip out her trees from already depleted soil and we influence her temperature with our pollution. Gaia has always sought to balance herself – this is the nature of her creative energy – and so the consequences of our human actions upon Gaia are already being seen. Rising water levels, depleted soils not bearing enough food, fiercer weather because of the warming of the atmosphere – all are Gaia’s efforts to rebalance. Will we be able to cast off our destructive nature and connect with our peaceful, creative one in time? Will we be able to connect with our original mother with balance again?”

Symbols: “Woman with broad hips and breasts, pregnant woman, woman inside the earth.”

Invocation: “Most of us have become incredibly cerebral creatures. We live in our minds in order to navigate this increasingly complex world. We connect through cell phones, social networking, and other electronic means. There’s nothing wrong with that some of the time, but our bodies need to be fully inhabited for us to experience a rounded life. We often forget the body’s amazing ability to connect us to what is divine and good through Gaia. If you are feeling disconnected despite all these new ways to connect, or you are not feeling in touch with yourself and the earth, you might like to try this meditation, which will connect you to Gaia’s energies.

Other great ways to express your love for her are to actively contribute to environmental activities, such as land care programs, conservation charities, animal protection work, or gardening.

Go to a favourite place in nature, one that speaks to you of groundedness, earthiness, and Gaia. This must be outdoors; you cannot do this mediation indoors.

Light a green candle and say: ‘Gaia, the oldest mother of all, allow me to join with you now, allow me to feel your green energy through my heart.’

Begin to breathe slowly and deeply slowly becoming away of your relationship to the environment around you. If you are female, you may like to take your breathing down through your belly into your womb. Imagine breathing in and out through this sacred place of creation. If you are male, connect and breathe through your sacral zone (extreme lower back).

Begin to open all your senses to Gaia, extending yourself and reaching out to her like roots would search through the soil. Pull up some energy, just like the roots would search through the soil. Pull up some energy, just like the roots would draw up water and nutrients.

Now, open your eyes: look around you, open your peripheral vision, look at the detail on nature, from the tiniest insect to the expanse of the sky. Soak in what you see and give thanks to Gaia.

Go to your aural sense. Close your eyes and concentrate on the sounds around you. Listen closely to the layers of life. Be very still and listen to your heartbeat and the way it melts into Gaia’s soundtrack. Again, give thanks to her for her connection with you.

Continue this through  your other senses, taste and touch.

When you have connected completely this way, make a mental and physical note of the grounded feeling that you have; connected, stable, secure and creative. You can come back to this feeling any time.

When you are ready, thank Gaia and begin to come back to yourself. Know that you are changed and energized! Blow out your candle.”*

~ By Stacey Demarco

Our beautiful Mother Goddess needs our help. She needs us to make change, big change… individually and collectively we can make a difference. WE are the ones… there is no THEM. They, the government, the big corporations… they are us too. We keep them going with our participation in their systems. Not that I am suggesting we overthrow them, yet… but that we peacefully make as many changes close to home as we possibly can. Day after day. Committed to the very best cause. Our planet.

Where will we live if we destroy her? How is it that many of us don’t see and ultimately feel our deep connection to her? We get so wrapped up in the mundane routine and drama that we have completely lost perspective. We are the problem and we are the only ones who can fix it.

And this is not rocket science here. It’s stuff we read about every day. It’s stuff we have heard our whole lifetime… or a good part of it anyway. We feel powerless because so much damage has been done. But we cannot let despair throw us into apathy. We must move forward fearlessly.

Every single moment of every single day we have choices. Choices in our lifestyle, how we live and the impact it has on the environment around us. We can change these choices to have less impact. We can choose not to engage in the consumerism. We can choose to make a much smaller footprint. We can choose to turn things around.

Remember how important you are in this. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Inspire others to do it too. Buy only what you actually need and use. Go for quality over quantity. Choose something gently used without all the packaging. Donate. Give experiences instead of stuff. Give of yourself instead of material items. Spend time instead of money. And teach those around you by example, encourage them to follow your lead.

Before it’s too late.
