Daily Angel Oracle Card, from the Archangel Raphael Healing Oracle Card deck, by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D: Meditation
“Dear Archangel Raphael, please meditate with me; and guide my mind and body to focus upon peace, health, and wellness.”
“The Latin word “medicus,” which means “to make whole” or “to cure,” is the root of both meditation and medication. So an alternative to medication may be meditation, and this card is a suggestion for the latter. Many studies correlate meditation with longevity and significant health benefits.
Meditation simply means focusing your mind consciously, either on a peaceful thought of a positive intention. You can take a meditation class, watch an instructional DVD, follow along on a guided meditation audio, or meditate in your own way. All forms are helpful and healthful.
Possible specific meanings for this card: Hold positive thoughts about your health by reciting affirmations. Study with a meditation teacher. Teach, write, or guide others through meditation as a part of your healing work. Attend a meditation healing retreat.”*
One of my favourite Buddhist sayings is “you should meditate for at least 5 minutes every day. If you don’t have 5 minutes to meditate every day, meditate every day for 20 minutes.” That, right there sums it all up, just how important meditation really is. Yet, it’s the first thing to go out the window when we are “too busy”… believe me… I know! With two kids, a blog, a job, household, husband, extra curricular activities etc, unfortunately often yoga and meditation are the first things to go out the window when I am too stressed or busy to incorporate them into my day; exactly when I need them the most. Oh, the irony!!
So what do you do? Well, you make it a priority until you can’t remember why on Earth you ever skipped it; like breathing! Ya, it’s that important. You are strengthing your connection to yourself, your higher self, and the Divine. You are raising your vibration and your consciousness. You are leaving the material in search of the spiritual. You are literally “rising above it all”. It is the life blood to your spiritual journey.
Sometimes I think it’s just a matter of finding what works for you; often simplicity is best. I don’t always get to meditate like a yogi, all perfect and cross legged on my pillow, in my sanctuary. But I can do a walking meditation through the forest or on a deserted beach with my dog. Standing looking up into the trees, or across the waves you feel a calm descend over you. Breathing deeply in the fresh air you feel the high vibrational energy coming in with every breath; and every exhale expells any low vibrational negativity. Steadying your mind, releasing thought to just “be” in this moment; the now. This is also a form of meditation. Trust, ask for help from your angels and guides. Breathe in the infinite possibility. Breathe out the stress. Listen to music if it helps, I do. Sit on a log or a mossy rock for a few minutes. It’s the connection that counts, you can become the perfect yogi one day, but let go of the worry and go for it. This is your gift to yourself. And it is essential.
